WILDACRES is the ultimate Blue Mountains getaway close to Katoomba, Leura, the three sisters and many local attractions. A relaxing home away from home offering unparalleled privacy surrounded by 40 acres of pristine native flora and fauna. It is the perfect place to take in the breathtakingly beautiful vistas of the Kanimbla Valley and beyond with a glass of wine in absolute privacy. Enjoy a relaxing soak in the cedar hot tub after a busy day hiking or sightseeing in the Blue Mountains and spend evenings stargazing, swapping stories around one of the two indoor fire places or incredible outdoor firepit toasting a few marshmallows. Perfect for seamless indoor outdoor living throughout the seasons, an extensive kitchen garden, herb garden, expansive kitchen, stylish living spaces and terrace, undercover outdoor BBQ and pizza oven await. Architecturally designed with floor to ceiling glass, vaulted ceilings and heated polished concrete the retreat nests sympathetically within the landscape, amidst a stunning amphitheater of serene protected Australian bushland. Utilising rainwater harvesting with its solar passive design, solar power, Tesla battery and extensive use of reclaimed materials crafted by local mountain artisans, this is a thoughtful, inviting and environmentally sensitive home beyond compare. Further enhanced by its proximity to some of the Blue Mountains favourite destinations including Katoomba, Leura, Megalong Valley Tea Rooms, Lot 101, Dry Ridge Estate, Logan Brae Orchard and some of the best hiking trails in the world. This much loved escape combines the best ancient beauty, modern luxury and timeless appeal. Please feel free to ask for any more details! Guests are welcome to enjoy the entire house and explore the many hiking trails and gardens on the property. There is off-street parking under the double carport as well as additional driveway parking. We are always available via Airbnb message to answer any questions or help make your stay more comfortable, and have property managers who live nearby if you do need any assistance. The village of Blackheath is a highly desirable destination for travelers wishing to access the UNESCO listed Blue Mountains region. A thriving mountain village 2 hours from Sydney city with an excellent reputation for markets, art, antiques, books, fresh local produce, cafes, pubs and of course mountain walks and vistas. WILDACRES is almost 40 acres atop Shipley Plateau between the Megalong and Kanimbla Valleys. More than 30 of those acres sits within an environmental protection zone. The property sits on the western edge of Gundungurra land and looks out to Wiradjuri country. WILDACRES sheltered due north facing position ensures native species including an array of bush tucker and fauna thrive. Regular sightings include wallabies, echidnas, wombats, lyrebirds, black cockatoos, gang gangs, and so much more. WILDACRES is located on Shipley Road between Hargraves Lookout and Logan Brae apple orchard. It is a 10 minute drive from Blackheath village to the front door of the house. The famous Megalong Valley tearooms are a picturesque 20 minute drive away and stunning Dryridge Estate vineyard and Six Foot track another 10 minutes beyond. WILDACRES is easily accessible from Sydney by car on the Great Western Highway, with off-street parking under the double carport as well as additional parking on the driveway. The house is approximately 10 minutes by taxi from the Blackheath train station. Trains arrive and depart for all villages and towns of the Blue Mountains as well as central Sydney. For guests without a car who want to do lots of sightseeing, we recommend the "Blue Mountains Explorer Bus" that stops at all the villages, lookouts and major tourist attractions in the Blue Mountains region. You can buy a ticket just outside Katoomba train station. You might also like to consider joining organised local tours. These tours offer hassle-free transportation and expert guides who will lead you to the region's most stunning viewpoints, waterfalls, and walking tracks. If you prefer the freedom of having your own transportation, car rental services are available in Katoomba. Renting a car allows you to conveniently navigate the region, visit nearby attractions, and explore the scenic beauty of the Blue Mountains at your leisure. There is a selection of firewood available for guests as well as fire-starters and matches provided during the winter months only. The house is solar passive, double glazed, has underfloor heating, two fire places and reverse cycle air-conditioners throughout the house to keep you toasty warm!
