  • Relax to the soothing sound of Lickskillet Creek. This home is situated in the Bald Creek area of Yancey County near the quaint town of Burnsville. Burnsville is the quintessential small town nestled in the foothills of Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi. It is known for its artistic vibe and outdoor adventures. Its town square offers restaurants, local shops, galleries, antiques, and a lively brewery.
    The space
    At Lickskillet there is plenty of room to relax inside and out. The creek boarders the back yard which has a fire pit, picnic table, hammock and two decks. The front yard is flat with plenty of space to play and a picturesque barn and pasture across the road. The house was remodeled in 2022 making it feel fresh and clean. It is decorated in a trendy bohemian farmhouse style. The main level of the home is accessible by two steps and has all the living space on one level. There is a rec room in the basement with a ping pong and foosball table, couch, video games and card table making this a great hang out space. This area is not heated or cooled but stays comfortable most of the year.

    -There is about an acre of flat yard to play in. There are some yard games/sports stuff in a storage building that guest may use.
    -The laundry is in the basement.
    Other things to note
    Please note the rec room in the basement is not heated/cooled but does stay comfortable for a good part of the year.

A beautiful home in Burnsville! Well decorated, very comfy beds, the home had everything we needed and more! We especially enjoyed the hot tub and sitting by the creek in the mornings.

Our stay was amazing. It was exactly what we needed so everyone had a space. The house has so many vintage touches all throughout. The host was great and was easy to communicate with. We went into Asheville two days that we were there. It is a little bit of a drive (about 40 minutes to drive to the Biltmore), but it was easy to get back and forth. We went into Burnsville one night to eat at the Garden Deli. It was delicious. I would highly recommend this little gem to anyone looking for an out of the way place to stay and relax.

The host clearly put a lot of thought into making the property feel cozy and inviting. We loved the records and the kids loved the basement and hot tub. The indoor Easter egg hunt the host put together for the kids to find upon arrival was super sweet.

This place was great and lived up to the rating. The house was perfect and the location peaceful. We enjoyed fires by the creek, cold nights by the wood stove, the hot tub and just relaxing in general. We actually enjoyed Burnsville as much as we did Asheville and ended up shopping and eating there more than we did in Asheville (The brewery was our favorite). Bonus points for the most comfortable bed and best sleep I’ve had in a while. We are already planning a return trip.

The home was very warm and clean when we arrived! Very easy to get to, The roads were all plowed and salted so you don’t have to worry about driving a 4WD.I had some questions mid-visit and the host was very responsive. Over all no complaints and I would definitely book again!

We so enjoyed this little property! Close enough to town to get what you need while being quiet and secluded. The house had plenty of space and activities for the kids. Super clean and friendly host.

We loved our stay! The home is very clean and welcoming. There were touches of Halloween all throughout the home to make it feel festive. The space was very relaxing and just what my husband and I needed to get away from all of the business of life. The host was easy to contact. I would love to bring my family back for a vacation.

The oven was dirty. I turned the oven on when we arrived to put a lasagna and a terrible smell immediately happened. Something had spilled over in the oven and it was awful. Also, the outsider grill was very dirty. We cleaned half for sometime so we could cook burgers.

We loved our getaway!

Great house for a couple or a family. My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Lickskillet house. A nice getaway with lots of relaxation. We also enjoyed our visits to the little town of Burnsville! Hope to get the opportunity to return some time.

Multigenerational Getaway

We had a wonderful time with family at Lickskillet Creek!!! The location is very peaceful, yet conveniently located for hiking, shopping, antiquing, gem mining, etc! The hosts have thought of everything to make for a comfortable stay indoors and outdoors.
