Lower Whinhill is a warm, clean and comfortable cottage with lovely views across the Dornoch Firth. We particularly enjoyed watching the wide variety of birdlife in the vicinity, ranging from chaffinches, yellow hammers, hooded crows and a pheasant in the garden to oyster catchers and lapwings in the fields beyond. Dornoch itself is a charming place, with lots of little shops to explore, not to mention the beautiful cathedral with its stunning stained glass windows and the wonderful beach with plenty of rock pools at low tide. One highlight of our time in Dornoch was the excellent pipe band and Scottish dancing performance on Saturday evening in the main square; these performance take place every week during the summer, weather permitting, of course!
