I booked this home for a vacation weekend to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday with a few couples. 25 min before check in the day of the rental, I was told the reservation was being canceled. The reason? Water damage not expected to be fixed until August 1st. Disappointing doesn’t cover it. Was this damage not known until 25 min before checking in? Was it not conveyed until that time? This home is managed by Vacasa as the host, and they’ve been the most terrible company to communicate with. I’m struggling to get confirmation of my refund, and the absolutely ruined weekend is of no concern to them. If you see a home that is hosted by Vacasa, turn and run. Or set a few thousand dollars on fire. It has the same impact as renting with them. I’m equally as disappointed in VRBO. Apparently my window to call them for support was same day. While I was dealing with finding new housing arrangements for guests who flew in from out of town, trying to determine if I was getting a refund, and managing the weekend plans, I should have called VRBO to better address this. Because I didn’t call within 6 hours (I called within 12) they could do nothing for me. Outside of being absolutely blindsided by the lack of support, I’m still struggling to get my money back or connect with anyone who can provide support that isn’t AI. They still sent me a request to leave feedback for the canceled house I didn’t get to stay in, so I’ve provided it here. Save yourself the trouble.
