“Our stay at Shiomachi Roya in Tomonoura was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. I was impressed by the renovations done to turn this old merchant house into an inn. I liked the design and decor. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Because this particular house (Roya) has only 4 rooms to stay in, the staff are located at another sister inn literally just around the corner, one minute away. “Every once in a great while you find a place where you wish you could stay extra days. This is one of those places! We had a group of nine people so we booked the entire Omoya house (6 bedrooms) which worked great for us. The cordial host came out to meet us when we arrived. The house is beautiful, and impeccably clean. It is well equipped with lots of dishes, pans, appliances. The grounds are gorgeous, peaceful and quiet. I definitely hope to go back sometime soon!”
