Kindly sorted a parking space on the property as I think it was a quiet night. But thereâs also a huge car park on the other side of the building.
More to do at the property than we realised. The communal area is brilliant. Donât waste your money in the arcades as thereâs loads to do at the hotel: pool, air hockey, table tennis, old school games table (pac man etc), sound system to choose your own music.

âMy husband and I are Swedes in our mid twenties, and we went to Portsmouth for a weekend getaway. Next time we go to Portsmouth, we will definitely stay at The Clarence again. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was very nice, and being Swedes we really care about the breakfast quality. Try the salmon egg muffin, you won't be disappointed!â

âCute, boutique hotel. Very clean. Restaurant onsite was convenient and food was delicious. Location was tucked back from the main road and walkable to multiple museums, restaurants and other local areas of interest. â
âJust around the corner from National Express Bus terminal. Also Green Mango Hair Salon. Room 5 in the second floor is quiet. Room 3 on the first level not to much. â
âThis hotel is very clean, breakfast is good and bed is very comfortable. The shower is great but bathroom is very tight. All in all good location and helpful staff. â
âThe bed in my first room was dreadful, I found several hairs in the sheets and comfortable as sleeping on the floor. In addition, the hot water did not work in the shower - I felt kind of ripped off - better standard should be expected even though it is an English hotel. After complaining a couple of times they moved me to the family suite which had an descent bed and hot water, which saved my week. The receptionists were always friendly despite my unhappy mood after my first night.â
âIf you are interested in the Victory or the Mary Rose it is right across the street. Super great. Parking down the street was easy but prefer not to have to do it. But if you have to remote park, it wasn't a big deal. It was pretty easy.â

"It was clean and very nice service. But time has indeed run its course. Very small rooms and the pub has been closed for 3 years. With all that said it is value for money unless it is warm cause then you will be cooked."
