“We were very impressed with everything about this property. The check-in process was very thorough and easy to understand. We loved the keypad rather than having an actual key - made it easy for different guests arriving at different times. We had three other groups staying at Cypress Lakes at the same time and our villa was the best of all of them. And the view at sunrise with the balloons floating past was amazing. Would definitely book again if we were to stay in the Hunter.”

“An excellent property however due to a broken remote control we were unable to use the lovely gas fire. Also there were no instructions for the oven and we were unable to use it as it’s so complicated. This spoiled our stay as we intended having a cosy dinner with our friends. “A quiet and beautiful property tucked away regardless of how close it is to one of the connecting roads to the rest of Wine Country. Lovely staff who are very welcoming and friendly, always with a smile on their face. My partner and I stayed in the smallest of the villas (Hannah's Loft) and it was perfect for two. Full of the amenities you need along with air conditioner heater, you will be nice and cosy here after a long day of wine tasting and travelling around the gorgeous countryside....

“didnt realise when i booked that we would be allocated 2 villas -luckily we got 2 very close. one was fine -a bit dated-the other was awful -needs a complete refurb, the outdoor table was so big and the chairs around it were lounge chairs not dining chairs so it was almost impossible for more than 3 people to sit at it. really uncomfortable. in general furniture was terrible-like a retirement village. 3 stars overall for this reason”

“The apartment was great for 3 couples as each room had a king bed. The apartment was clean, central and well suited our needs. With 3 lounges as well, enjoying cheese and biscuits in the lounge room with the fire on was lovely. Our only disappointment was some items weren’t there that would’ve been helpful for cooking ie sharp knives, tongs, more bowls, and there were no placemats.”

Nice stay
"Spicer’s guesthouse was lovely, with modern and comfortable rooms and the grounds were very pretty, with manicured gardens and wild kangaroos watching from a distance. The staff were friendly but maybe not always as attentive as they could have been. Given the guesthouse is the premium hotel of the Hunter Valley and was quite expensive I’m just uncertain as to what exactly we paid for. I think if you’re going to have a premium price you should be able to justify it in some way by distinguishing yourself from the competition but it was unclear to me if Spicer’s really achieved this. It was a nice hotel without being amazing or anything."
