Sort of a strange experience. Never met or interacted with the host, just a note on the door with instructions upon arrival. However, said instructions were accurate and easy to follow, and the room itself was nicely sized and comfortable.
However, the en suite was actually across the hall from the room, to be locked with the room's key to prevent other guests from accessing it. OK in principle, awkward for the 2 AM bathroom visits a 50 gent like myself has come to know & love. And noisy with the fumbling of the old-fashioned "skeleton"-type key involved.
The house was very clean and well-appointed. No breakfast included but good instant coffee fixings in the room.
However, it's all ground floor (like a sort of dual-entrance US-style suburban ranch home), with all room windows facing the driveway and said dual entrances. Thus, you can hear all guests' comings and goings at any hour of the night. A bit noisy, in short.
Good location, easy to walk to "downtown" Drum and to restaurants, etc.
My one big issue is that, although I never saw a dog or any evidence of dog habitation, the interior of the house smelled strongly of multiple large and possibly wet dogs. Opening the window in the room was required. The smell in the foyer where muddy hiking boots are to be left was particularly strong. Had to get in and get out fast.
I would not stay again due to this factor alone, though the B&B has a lot of positive qualities going for it.
