This is one of the places in east Texas that not many Texans know of. This was my third visit to this place and I was still amazed with the beauty I could see in a place like Texas. It's just 4 hours drive from Austin and 2.5 hours drive from Dallas towards East.

What makes this place special is cypress trees in the lake and their beautiful reflections. You get a different flavor in each season - greens all around in spring and summer, different colors in fall and a brown cover in winters. Also, you would be in for a treat if you are a bird lover. Get up early in the morning and you could hear several birds chirping.

Tips:

1. Avoid visiting this place in summer as it's still Texas and it gets very hot and humid during that time.

2. Instead of booking a hotel in Karnack town, get a vacation rental (go Vrbo) in "Uncertain" -- yes, that's the name of the place. Most vacation rentals have a minimum of two night stays so plan the trip accordingly.

“Beautiful cottage in a quiet neighborhood. It felt like home for sure. Loved sitting outside by the Adirondack chairs, reading my bo9k and listening to the birds. The room was big and spacious and the bed was large and very comfortable and the bathroom was great as well! A big closet too. The owners were so nice and communication was great! Loved that we were so close to all the historical places as well! Jefferson is such s fun area and hope to come back again some day! ”

“The property is beautiful and quiet. The interior of the house was very clean, warm, and comfortable. The kitchen has modern stainless steel appliances, ample space, and stocked with everything a guest would need (sans food, of course), the sofa, chairs, beds were comfortable.
