Linville Falls. beginning in a twin set of upper falls, moving down a small gorge, and culminating in a high-volume 45-foot drop.
A must see.
It had been raining steadily for days near Linville Falls. Parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway were inaccessible, but the rains made for a spectacular view of the falls after a relatively short hike. This photo taken at 36mm, F/16.0, 6 sec. @ ISO 100.

Hotel was very clean and staff was extremely friendly. The pool was spacious and well kept. The breakfast was among the best we have encountered.

Great location, but not so clean
The place was not properly cleaned, we found new years' party hats under the sofa (from the week before), food stains on the walls in the kitchen, a badly cleaned bathroom floor. Just not what you'd hope for, but the place was really good in all other aspects.

While out on a day of adventure I took this photo while my friends and I were on the Blue Ridge Park Way. We had gone off the beaten path and stumbled upon this breath taking view Appalachia region. In this image you can see the untouched beauty of the mountains. With no sign of civilization in sight, but only the sea of green and rolling mountains as far as the eye can see. As remote as this area looks, this view is only a 20 minute drive from the App State campus. This is what makes the Appalachia region so unique to me, you can go from a campus filled with thousands of students to a place where you feel completely alone with only nature to keep you company. #appalachianechoes
