Privat stuga i regnskogen

Mysigt, privat regnskogens reträtt stuga ovanför Kona i Kaloko Mauka Honua'ula Forest Reserve. Beläget på en 3 hektar stor egendom ligger denna stuga i en frodig skog av Ohia träd och Hapu'u träd Fern. Njut av den söta doften av ingefära som omger den här ett sovrumstugan - perfekt för en romantisk semester! Undvik Kona-kustens värme och utforska Maoko-skogen och spåren i Kaloko med utmärkt fågelskådning vid den här kalla höjden på 2300 fot. Vi ligger 2 miles ovanför den övre Mamalahoa Highway i en lantlig miljö. Bara 10 minuter till flygplatsen, staden Kona och stränder. Denna stuga har en stor ryggdäck för stjärna stirrar och njuter av din måltid. Vardagsrummet är möblerat med en bekväm dubbelsäng, skrivbord och svängbar 43-tums platt-TV som även kan ses från matsal, DVD-spelare och WiFi / streaming. Köket har bänkskivor i granit, utrustad med ett fullkvalitativt kylskåp, diskbänk, kaffebryggare och elektrisk grill ute.

Everything we expected and more! This was our first of four locations we stayed at on our first trip to Hawaii and it was the best of the lot. It is located in the rain forest so it was quiet and we saw all forms of flowers and wildlife during the day. Then at night we had a spectacular view of a moonless sky full of stars and the coquis sang us to sleep. The front had a seating area with a view of the garden, the bedroom had a patio door to the large deck and additional seating options with another large garden where we could hand-feed the pheasants and there was a third patio door off the living area. All the typical amenities provided including a large TV, games, books, etc plus sunscreen and bug spray. There was plenty of dishes as well as seasonings and the refrigerator was stocked with a variety of condiments. Our host really thought of everything with bathroom products, room fresheners, even binoculars! We definitely would choose this location again!

This is a great get-away location. It is about 15 minutes from the airport, beach or town. Quiet but still close to other conveniences. There is dense tropical foliage on one side of the cottage and open green space on the other. We enjoyed feeding the wild pheasants in the morning and kept a look out for the wild pigs who would pass through the yard. Our time here was very relaxing.Mary provided beach chairs, umbrella and other beach gear that we took advantage of. The kitchen items are limited but sufficient. There is no stove, but the induction hot plate was really fast. She kept us supplied with towels and linens.My wife and I are seniors and we came to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with spending 19 days here. There were a few inconveniences for us. There was no chest for clothes, so we needed to use our suitcases. The floor of the cottage is cement and the policy is no shoes in the house. While Mary did provide some thin slippers, I ended up with plantar fasciitis. There are no handles on the kitchen cupboards and drawers. The interior doors are pocket doors and not all of the flip-out latches worked. So drawers and doors were sometimes difficult to open. The chairs in the dining area and on the deck are bar stool height with arms making it difficult to sit close to the table. These matters would probably not affect younger folks but were little challenges for us. However, these inconveniences would not keep us from recommending this cabin to others.

We loved the house and the details in the decor and lighting, but as other reviewers have stated, the yard and gardens are the show stopper- absolutely beautiful! And as a birder you can’t beat the back porch for bird watching and feeding the pheasants. The kitchen is small but we had everything we needed to make our meals there. You will not find a better accommodation for the price on the island. Don’t miss the Kona cloud forest and the sound meditation journey just up the street- it’s worth the price.

The cottage and the property are just magical! The climate is quite different at 2,400 ft elevation - nice and cool. The creatures are fun to find - geckos and coqui frogs! The pheasants visit to say hello. Mary is a gracious host.

Absolutely picture perfect stay. Impressively decorated and incredibly comfortable cottage with a lot of quiet and privacy. It's only a partial kitchen, but that being said, it's stocked with so many additional appliances that it's easy to cook something simple for yourself if you need to.

Mary is an exceptional host beyond compare! Booking and check in were easy. And Mary was most gracious to allow us to check in early and then depart late. The cottage itself is absolutely charming with beautiful eclectic décor, comfortable furniture and bed and ample kitchen ware. The front porch chairs are so comfortable as well as the back porch lounge chairs and table and chair set. Everywhere you look there are exquisite tropical plants and flowers. It is such a hidden oasis. We loved relaxing there, listening to the frogs at night, feeding the pheasants and hiking nearby in the Cloud Forest. I’m so glad we found it!

This cottage was so amazing! It was so secluded and surrounded by gorgeous plants and wildlife. Mary was very responsive and helped make our stay incredibly pleasant. It was only about 15 min from the main Kona area and super close to the start of the Kona coffee belt. The place was clean, well stocked and had a lot of outdoor lounging areas for the days we didn’t travel much. There was even a cute little family of pheasants that would visit us every morning. It was such a cool way to enjoy the island, I would highly recommend!

This place was spotless. The grounds are insanely pretty. At 2400ft elevation, it was cool wvery night. Mary, the host, is awesome. Minimal kitchen capabilities was only a slight issue. Really AMAZING and FABULOUS place to stay for a great price. Being right near the cloud forest sanctuary and many of the coffee farms was very nice as well

Pictures cannot do the property/cottage justice- this is a spectacular rainforest paradise! Well-appointed, comfortable, and the temperature up in the forest was welcome respite from the heat in Kailua town. Host has thought of everything and communication was easy. This cottage was truly an amazing experience. Very clean space, although it is in a forest, you can tell this property is well looked after. You wake up every morning to pheasants, and they eat straight out of your hand. Very spacious, and the bathroom has a lot of free toiletries. If you’re thinking about booking, noon this place! The pictures do not do it justice!

We absolutely loved this amazing property! I cannot say enough about how beautiful the outdoor spaces you get to enjoy during your stay are. The owners have put so much hard work into making this a tropical rainforest oasis and it shows. The home was immaculate and had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. The pheasants coming by in the morning for treats the owners left us was the highlight of our mornings! We would love to come back soon and stay longer next time! Our two days here were amazing. Mary was such a joy to correspond with and we appreciate her so much!
