  • True and full oceanfront condo with a lanai (balcony) that almost hangs over the beach. See the ponds below where the turtle and the eels want to come and feed. Let the sounds of the sea make you sleep after a day of sightseeing or relaxation. Both the bedroom and living room face the sea, where dolphins can be seen all year round and whales in season.

    Queens was a sofa bed in the living room.
    Tastefully remodeled kitchen and bathroom with shower over bathtub.
    Two lanai-high bistros are on the lanai.

    Hale Kona Kai is an intimate, absolute oceanfront complex of 39 one-bedroom condos. Located on the outskirts of Kona City, it is off the main road providing calm, ocean-view relaxation from every module. Located just south of Royal Kona Resort, excellent dining at Huggo's or Don Beachcomber's is a two-minute walk away and other restaurants are just a fun stroll away. The white sand of Honl's Beach is less than a quarter-mile south and the Kona Farmer's Market half a mile north.

    The complex offers an elevator that provides convenient access for all. On the ocean side, you'll find a heated saltwater swimming pool and a grill on the south end of the complex. Each floor has coin-operated washers and dryers for your use. Each condo does not have its own washer/dryer.

    Each unit includes designated parking, safe WIFI, & cable TV. Both units, like Lanais, are non-smoking and Hale Kona Kai is non-smoking.

what a gorgeous spot. We loved relaxing on the porch with coffee and lots of wonderful wave sounds and ocean views. It was a delightful place to stay. It had everythng we needed for our vacation stay

The view!

The most wonderful part about this was the amazing view, watching the ocean right below you was peaceful. The location was in walking distance of a lot of fun things to see and do. Loved my stay and the host was very responsive :)

We had a wonderful stay at this condo and would highly recommend it.The views from the balcony and bedroom were absolutely fabulous—we started each morning with mimosas, watching and listening to the waves, which was such a peaceful way to begin the day.The location was excellent, within walking distance to restaurants, cafĂ©s, and souvenir shops. We also rented a car to explore the island, and having a dedicated parking spot included (without extra resort-style fees) was a huge bonus.The condo was well equipped with thoughtful extras like a full-size cooler, snorkeling gear, beach chairs, and an umbrella, which made beach days easy and enjoyable. The A/C worked great, and everything felt comfortable and well maintained.We also appreciated the clear communication, including detailed check-in instructions and a thoughtful follow-up message to ensure everything was going well.Lastly, the 70’s Hawaiian dĂ©cor is exactly as shown in the photos—we expected it and actually loved the charm it added.Overall, a fantastic stay—we would definitely return!

Peaceful with a Gorgeous view

Falling asleep every night to the sound of the waves crashing was a wonderful treat. The condo had all of the items you could need for a fun vacation. Great location for walking to all the restaurants and shops.

Convenient location, fabulous view.

The location is perfect, with all condominiums perched on the ocean. Very convenient to downtown, restaurants, bars, beaches and shops. The condo was clean and comfortable, and well stocked with cookware, utensils, and small appliances.

Kona Hale Kai has been our choice for the last 12 years! Can't beat the ocean views from both living area and the bedroom Quiet location but easy walking to town 304 is our favorite to escape our Alaska winters!

Amazing views

The views were amazing. The location was very good. Close to shopping and dinning. We walked to dinner several times. Condo could use a little updating and repair but overall we would return.

Another Great Stay

We are frequent visitors to Kona and our favorite place to stay is the Hale Kona Kai. Unit 304 was clean and comfortable and adequately equipped with everything we needed. You can't beat the absolute ocean front lanai and the sunsets. Love it!

Fantastic week away

Staying here was great for the location. The unit is literally above the ocean, providing a gorgeous sunset view and the best natural white noise to sleep with. Very close, but not directly in the heart of the action of town. Easy walking around to shopping, dining, kayaking and snorkelling. If we get back to the area, we would likely stay in the same building.

Room we had was dated, but had everything we needed for our stay (large kitchen with plenty of pots and dishes). They even had toys for the beach which we did use. The complex was experiencing problems with the air conditioner. They provided a small unit for the bedroom which kept it cool. Tiana was very friendly and helpful.
