“Stayed for several weeks and ended up extending our stay at this rental. The cottage wasnt far from town and had an amazing view of the mountains. It was the perfect tiny house stay! The host answered all of our questions quickly and had great communication with us while we stayed. I would highly recommend booking the cottage or with this host.”

“This home was exactly as advertised, which is not always the case, but certainly was here. Very quiet, friendly neighborhood as well. Many rentals up here do not have A/C, but due to the unusually high humidity this weekend, we were definitely glad this one did. Simply loved everything about this rental. Next time we are in the area, we will check the availability here first. Thanks for a great weekend!!!”

“The house was perfectly situated for me to explore areas in and around Hickory. Quick and easy 5 minute drive to Hickory Lake Park to walk my dog and ride my bike on the off-road trails. 20 minute drive to Bakers Park and Riverbend Park for more trail walking. House was pleasantly cooled with a/c, ceiling fans above the bed, and the mattress comfortable provided for a great nights sleep. ”

“The home and surrounding property were perfect for our stay in the mountains of North Carolina. The owners prepared a bouquet of fresh flowers and cookies for us upon our arrival, which was a very nice surprise hurricane Helene took out the stairs leading down to the creek, which made it a little more difficult than we anticipated to get down to the creek, but we found many other things to do, and there are many places in the area where you can access the water. I would highly recommend this...

“This was our second stay at the Secret Shack and we can’t say enough good things. Chris is an amazing host and everything was better than expected. Many upgrades since our last stay including new furniture, appliances, and a gas fireplace were fantastic. The view is amazing and so cool to wake up to in the master bedroom. Plenty of towels and the bed linens are super comfortable. The hot tub is a nice touch as many smaller properties lack this. We’d give more stars if we could and would love to...

“Very nice property. If you want private and beautiful location, this is it. Nearest town to buy groceries is Burnsville so get what you need before heading up to property. The only improvement I can think off would be to screen off that corner of the front porch where the bed is….I would have slept out there but scared a spider might get me!”
