“Hotel Julien is showing signs of age. What was probably a lovely, boutique hotel now looks and feels tired and worn out. Staff were pleasant, rooms spacious and the location was great, but our room wasn't very clean, and the beds/bedding all needs a refresh.”

“A really cool hotel with very friendly staff. The only down side was the breakfast that wasn’t fully included. You got a voucher to use in the neighboring cafe, but it wasn’t enough to cover a full breakfast and the cafe was closed on Mondays. However, the cafe was great!”

“Just average. Beds weren't very comfortable and the breakfast is hardees next door basically cause it doesnt exist. Rooms seem very outdated as well.”

“Our stay was so much more relaxing than a hotel. We walked the grounds and enjoyed a beautiful morning on the patio for our morning coffee. Had a short stay to visit family, but want to come back for several days to relax and explore Decorah. ”

“I found it odd that there was no elevator (at least none that I could see) to access the second floor. Had to carry my large suitcase up the steps. Breakfast was good. Breakfast staff was helpful. The woman who checked us in had numerous piercings on her face (nose) and was intimidating but was very professional and helpful otherwise. ”

“The views are spectacular! We arrived on a sunny warm day. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the view. We were told there was no delivery in town, so we grabbed a pizza and enjoyed that in the patio, as well. The room was very comfortable. The sunrise was even better! We could see it right from our bed, so no need to even get up to see it! Would recommend!”

“Nice location. Friendly staff and good hot breakfast. We dined at the adjacent restaurant an a few times and it was very good. We also enjoyed a couple of evenings just having a picnic lunch on the hotel front porch. The two queen mattresses were each a bit springy. My husband and I thought it was a good value for the price and would stay here again.”

“My son and I stayed 6 nights in an accessible room. The website mentions that you have to request housekeeping during longer stays, but even when we did, we found the service a bit unpredictable. There was no niche or shelf for toiletries in the shower, which was inconvenient. Of the five staff members I spoke to during the visit, only one graced us with a smile while we were there. The breakfast was ok, but only one day offered scrambled eggs and sausage; the biscuits and gravy on the other...

“The hotel itself is ok. It’s not the best place I’ve stayed but it’s not the worst either. The neighborhood is questionable with questionable people hanging around outside that aren’t hotel quests. The room was clean. ”
