Yes you can hear the sound from what ever concert is taking place in the venue downstairs but that did not really bother me. I loved the interior design and vibe of the place. The hotel infrastructure is definitely a bit older but everything was in good working order. The building has loads of vintage charm and has been tastefully maintained/modernised- a good balance of what it has been and what it needs to be.

âThe State is a boutique hotel with a funky vibe (in a good way). The room was a bit small and it lacked some amenities but the bed was very comfortable and for a downtown hotel it was quiet.
A couple of minor gripes:
1) the in room coffee is pretty lame
2) the bathroom could use a couple of towel racks
3) charging $8 for a water bottle is ridiculous

"Very nice hotel in a nice area. Comfortable room. A bit worn down. The shower didn't work great.
A warning, though: There are zero power outlets. With four people staying in the room, and wanting to charge phones and watches, this was an issue. We had to unplug the TV and the lamp by the beds to have any access to power outlets.
