“I was first surprised that it was a basement unit. It’s advertised as a “downstairs apartment” but it is the basement level. Important to know because unfortunately it has the musty smell of that space. The unit was spacious but because it was a basement the smell of mold and in the bedroom a stronger cat urine smell was noticeable. Also the upstairs living space was clearly in use as the running and footsteps were loud. In the early morning the sprinklers bang off the ac unit which was...

“For a last minute trip, we couldn't beat the location. Less than 10 minutes from Sag Harbor and Bridgehampton main streets as well as from Sagaponack beaches. The space is quaint and offers everything you need, a small kitchenette, a work desk, outdoor space. There was several communications sent regarding privacy and not interacting with other guests on property which I can appreciate but felt excessive. My two biggest complaints and likely why I would not rebook was first the cleanliness of the...

11. Spacious one Bedroom Apt with private entrance

Centereach

“The host was extremely attentive to any questions or needs. Excellent and immediate communication. Good, quiet location between Islip airport and Port Jefferson. The size of the unit was very adequate for two people. Bathroom was clean and adequately stocked with towels and wash cloths. The reason for 2 stars is we thought the apartment was not very clean from floor to ceiling. This apartment has huge potential to be very cute. In my option, it needs an entire over haul.”

14. The Stern at Soundview · Beach+Ocean+Sunrise

Old Lyme

“If you are looking for a place to sleep, this place is ok. No place to sit down or put anything down. Just a bed and an old beat up tiny side table. Refrigerator is tiny, needed to be cleaned and defrosted. Stains in the bathroom ceiling tiles and the smell of Marijuana at night. Hot plate and microwave present but did not use. The entryway and stairs were dirty and could use a coat of paint and trim. The beach was the highlight and a very short walk. Definitely not worth the $$$ we paid.”

“I knew Hamptons housing would be pricey, and the location, about 20 minutes from the venue I was visiting for a music show, was the main draw. I requested an early check in due to a meeting and was told the host would follow up. They never did, even after I sent a follow-up message. I understand early check in isn’t guaranteed, but I would have appreciated some communication either way.I returned in the evening to find some things out of place, a TV with no signal, and blinds that wouldn’t close...
