With that said, a major draw back is the home needs some safety renovations if it is going to allow small families to book in my opinion . “The patio cottage is my go-to place to stay in Portland, along with its sister property, the patio suite. Scott is a fantastic host and the cottage is well-equipped and cozy, with lovely outdoor space as well. The neighborhood is great and close to many restaurants and public transport. The hosts communicated well in advance of our check-in and instructions were clear. They even popped in to check up on us after we arrived. What could have made it even better: A working ceiling light. The host advised us that they have to call an electrician but did not say when. It didn't get fixed during our 7-night stay and we did...

“Not sure if VRBO , EXPEDIA or the host were responsible but the house was booked out from under us. We did not find out until late afternoon the day of check in. We were stranded 2 hours away from home. All hotels in the area were booked because of Fathers Day weekend. Yes, I did get a full refund. This was the worst experience I've ever had. Not sure I will ever use any of them again”
