The tiny rapids here are the start of what quickly turns into class five rapids and offers some of the best whitewater rafting in the eastern United States. Known locally as “the Yough” [yawk], the river travels through the Youghiogheny River Gorge and offers quite a few swimming holes along it’s shores. But use caution!
