Fortunately, the Bay Club does not have extra fees or surcharges like many hotels do that are discretionary by the property. Dear Mary, Thank you for staying with us and posting the great review! Our tides go in and out twice each day and when it's low tide, it leaves a large muddy sand bar. At high tide, the water line is only a few feet below the balcony!. I'm sorry if you were not made aware of the 12 restaurants within 1 mile of the hotel that offer a pretty diverse selection to chose from besides the hotel restaurants. Besides our restaurant onsite, there is also Humphrey's right next door and Bali Hai less that 100 yards away that all offer excellent cuisine. The views are very nice, Deborah. It's so pleasing to see the water and the boats docked in our marina. The food is great too. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend you coming back and trying out the food.

Part of the charm of Shelter Island is it's secluded spot in San Diego Bay yet it is pretty easy to get around to the best areas in a short radius and is out of the airport flight path so it's very quiet.
