“The room was great value, Friendly staff, clean comfy bed etc Only issue which was my fault for not doing my homework, I hadn`t realized the hotel was on the Gretna services and not in Gretna Green its self! it was to far to walk safely to have a look around and a drink. But other than that great place for an overnight stop while on your way up or down Scotland/England.”

“I stayed for one night and appreciated having an affordable place close to the station, with plenty of shops nearby. I was also happy to find a kettle with coffee and tea, which made for a fresh and pleasant morning. The only downside was that there was no hand soap or shampoo provided, which would have made the stay more comfortable. Overall, I’m satisfied with what I received for the price and happy with my stay”

“I traveled from Japan specifically to visit Annandale Distillery and the Annan Museum, and this hotel was an excellent base for exploring the area. The building has a lot of character and history, but the room and facilities were spotlessly clean and well maintained. I was unsure how to operate the heater in my room, as this type of heating system is uncommon in Japan, but the staff were always happy to help and made me feel welcome. “I usually stay at Hetland Hall because it is located a bit off and it is quiet. This time though, not so much! There was a wedding reception (on a Tuesday) and I was for some reason given a room just over the ballroom. Extremely loud music until the middle of the night made sleeping impossible. I wasn't informed that there was a party that night and I can't understand why I wasn't given a room in some other part of the hotel. Simply unacceptable.”

“I was quite disappointed with my stay. The breakfast was terrible — very limited options and not appetizing at all. The room wasn’t comfortable; I could hear the neighbors talking and even snoring through the walls. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, and to make things worse, the noise from the birds outside kept me up most of the night. Overall, not a pleasant experience and I wouldn’t stay here again. The good thing about the hotel was the location, at the heart of Carlisle. ”

“Nice guest house,clean, close to town. Good breakfast the lady serving was very helpful. Only downside you couldn't leave your suitcase in the morning whilst popping to town before catching the coach.”

“The room was not serviced on two days out of four - the reason given was that the housekeeper did not work those days. The restaurant was closed for evening meals at short notice. The entrance door was closed and locked early in the evening and my keys did not work on occasions.”

“The place is really not for business. Internet didn’t work at all during the entire stay. I needed two documents printed, noone could help me. The food was however great and the staff in the restaurant was helpful!”
