âWe stayed in room 2 whilst we went to a concert in the town and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The room was clean, comfortable and ample for our needs and though the room is on the front (with view of the sea) we slept well and didn't get disturbed, not even by the seagulls.
Steve and his staff were brilliant. Really helpful and friendly and to cap things off the breakfast was superb and great value.

âWe had an excellent stay whilst attending a concert at the open air theatre. The room was clean with everything you needed, a well stocked tea and coffee tray with biscuits and two bottles of water. There was also toiletries in the bathroom although we used our own. The bar itself was great, lovely choice of drinks and food. The hotel has a great location and is as you'd expect a Victorian seaside hotel to be, a little dated but that's part of the charm. The hotel boasts commanding views over the bay and close to the castle.
We had 2 rooms booked, both were spacious, clean and seemed to have new furniture.

âThe reception employees were not service minded during check in and out. I arrived at 11 am and asked about the possibility of early check in (anytime before 15:00 even paid for). The receptionist asked for my name and once I gave it, the reply was No, it's fully booked even though:
- he didn't even check.
- a couple that he helped before me got to check in.
- when I came back in the evening and asked for a floor fan, the evening receptionist said he'd look for any available in the "unoccupied...
âThe hotel was probably very nice 100 years ago. It is still charming but in need of A total renovation. The hotel is old, worn and neglected, but unfortunately the rooms are also dirty. Cobwebs and dust. Torn sheets and flies in the bathroom. It smells more or less everywhere. Unfortunately there is a lot of seagulls that pooped down the windows and they have nests outside. âVery clean and well equipped. WiFi signal not very strong. We would stay again but only if the mattress was replaced for a better quality or given a decent topper. It was extremely uncomfortable and affected getting a good night's sleep. There were several comments in the guest book in the property, going back a while that mentioned the uncomfortable mattress, so the owners should be aware.â
