Slovenský raj (Slovak Paradise) is a national park in central Slovakia between Poprad and Spišská Nová Ves. Photo was taken at the first waterfall on the Suchá Belá (dry white) gorge, which is the most popular of the 8 gorges that are open to the public. Over a distance of 4 km, a series of ladders and metal walkways provide access to the gorge, whilst minimising the human impact. Best to start your hike early if you want to avoid the crowds. We were there in end of August and the room was very hot … difficult go fall asleep. The option to open window was there but a lot of mosquitoes ...

Dobsinska Ice Cave was discovered on 15 June 1870 by a royal mining engineer Eugen Ruffinyi, accompanied by G. Lang and Andrej Mega, though the entrance was known from time immemorial by shepherds and hunters as Studená diera (Cold Hole). The cave was opened to the public one year after its discovery.
