The View!
This is a top notch spot! You can see the sunrise from your bed and get an amazing view of the ocean. Very clean space, kitchen has all the essentials to cook, and you can walk down to the beach during low tide! We were very sad that Perry’s lobster shack wasn’t open as their pier was being rebuilt but they should be up and running by mid-June. Overall, great place and highly recommend for a relaxing stay!

Great location and view
We had a great time at Idle Hour. The views of the water are amazing. The tides come right up to the house. We saw plenty of birds and even a seal. The house is very clean and well-provisioned. It's a perfect place to get away after spending the day on MDI. We would definitely stay here again.

Our Acadia Trip
We had a great family trip over school vacation. We were about 35/40 minutes to Acadia and we went and adventured there each day. The view from this property is unmatched. It’s quiet, peaceful, and exactly what our family needed!

There aren’t words to describe the view it’s just breathtaking. The house is wonderful with everything you need. The back of the house is all windows you can take in the view from anywhere. We all loved it!!!

Beautifully conformance
The house is in a great location. Easy to get everywhere. Very clean and comfortable. The views are amazing. Windows everywhere. Enjoyed the beautiful sunrises every morning, can be seen straight from the bedrooms. I would definitely stay here again. Thoroughly enjoyed this stay. Thank you!

Restful Retreat

Amazing Views and Sunrises
Clean as a whistle and cozy, this home has amazing views with ten windows facing the water. We loved seeing the lobster boats come and go and although we didn't see seals at this time of year, there were loons and two bald eagles. We just loved it here and hope to return. Thank you!

I loved the location! The communication and responsiveness from the host was fantastic. The property itself and deck could use some updating/remodeling but overall we were comfortable, had all the amenities and loved the full wall of windows viewing the ocean!

Amazing Views
This property is right on the water with fantastic views of the bay and harbor. Walk the beach or walk to Perry's Lobster shack for the freshest lobster as you can watch them unload the days catch before you dine.

Star-filled evening sky!
I had a great time staying at Idle Hour II for four nights in late September. The house is extremely comfortable, with everything needed right at hand. I slept in the upstairs bedroom to maximize my view of the water. The deck facing the inlet was clearly the highlight for me. Sitting there in the evening dark, watching the stars, hearing the water gently lapping at the shore, and just letting time slip away! Utterly magical. I hope I can stay here the next time I visit Maine.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Idle Hour, until Hurricane Lee chased us out a day early! The location was perfect for the activities we planned. Nice Home With One Caution
We stayed for two weeks here and the view is beautiful, better than the pictures. The house is clean and well stocked with kitchen and bathroom supplies. Perry’s for good lobster is a short walk away. We had a couple of questions and minor issues when we first arrived, and the property manager was helpful and responded promptly. One note of caution for light sleepers — this property is right on a road, but the road is a dead end. It’s not like being on a highway, but there is frequent traffic. Light sleepers might find the traffic noise disturbing. It woke me pretty regularly, but my husband slept like a baby. All things considered, I’d rent again, but bring earplugs for myself.

A wonderful week
We had a wonderful week in this lovely property. The view is just incredible and calming. The house is well equipped and I even managed to get some work done, at the desk facing the ocean. It’s definitely worth taking walks and enjoying the different points of view. We will come back.

Property was nice… we were looking forward to using the fire pit , but it was not operational . We did report it to the property manager…. The remote controls for the bedrooms ac are cumbersome to use and possibly need new batteries. The view from the living room was very pretty. Home was very clean and nicely decorated.

Great getaway!
What a wonderful getaway right on the water with your own little beach! The views simply can’t be beat. Absolutely stunning!!! The house was exactly as described and very clean. The kitchen is very nicely stocked and we had everything we needed. We were hoping to use the fire pit on our last night and were disappointed to learn there was no propane left. My only suggestion that would have improved our stay would have been the addition of room darkening curtains over the blinds because with those spectacular views comes that beautiful sunshine waking you up nice and early (whether you wanted it to or not!). Pack an eye mask if you’re like us and want to sleep in a little. We had an absolutely wonderful stay and would come back in a heartbeat! Thank you for sharing this beautiful getaway with us!

Beautiful property, fantastic location
As others have already noted - the cleanliness and overall condition can't be beat. Responsiveness of property manager was impressive. It was gorgeous and such a treat to stay in. Everything we needed was available throughout the house. Plenty to do in the area even during Thanksgiving week; restaurants and shops gave us nice choices. We had a lovely, memorable week.

Lovely waterfront cottage with fabulous views
The cottage was lovely, very nicely decorated, with a well-supplied kitchen, ample bed and bath linens, wifi, tv and games. The cottage has a waterfront location and many windows resulting in fabulous 180-degree views. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunrise, gazing at the multitude of stars in the night sky, as well as seeing the wildlife and watercraft on the water. For us, the property also provided good access for day trips to Acadia National Park and Schoodic Penninsula (about a 50 minute drive), Blue Hill, Deer Isle. We hope to return sometime soon.

Exceptional View, Stunning sunrise
Well maintained, very clean property. No issues at all. Kitchen was well stocked and we really appreciated that toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent were readily available for our stay. Our favorite part of this property however was the view. Waking up to the sunrise over the water each morning was the highlight of our stay. Highly recommend a stay at Idle Hour II.

Beautiful well kept home on the water. The house is well stocked for doing your own cooking. I highly recommend driving down to the Stonnington Lobster Co-op to pick out fresh live lobster off the dock. The best lobster we had during our visit in Maine.

Perfect Getaway Retreat

Amazing place
The house was amazing and the pictures don’t do it justice. When we got there everything was super clean and it was just wall to wall windows. It was dark when we got there, but the sunrise in the morning was magnificent and the view was to die for. It was a short walk to Perry’s lobster house and totally worth it.

Idyllic spot Forrest and relaxation!
Incredible waterside location, spotlessly clean and quieter than you could possible imagine. We spent 5 heavenly nights here over a holiday weekend and enjoyed every second. Remote, yet close enough for day trips to Bar Harbor, Acadia, and the Schoodic Peninsula. Kitchen was well stocked to create multiple lobster dinners, furnishing were cozy and comfortable. Decor is classy nautical, with Rosenfield prints on the walls and Ansel Adams coffee table books. Plenty of puzzles and childrens toys abound. The best part are the sunrises over the inlet, with incredible views from every room in the house. Would return in a heartbeat.

The house is perfect! We were very pleased with how clean and spotless the home was. Attention to detail was evident in every room and very well thought out for the guests. The location is an easy, pleasant drive with amazing views. The sunrise over the bay is a must see. My daughter and I (both our first trips to Maine) had a wonderful stay at Idle Hour II. Judging from the VRBO photos, we expected the home to be nice, but we were blown away when we actually opened the door and began to settle in. Beautifully appointed, comfortable, spacious, open and airy. Oh, and that view!! We’d stopped for a few essentials before turning the key and quickly realized that the things we’d forgotten were here already. The attention to detail taken to ensure guests’ stays are blissful was evident from the get-go and throughout our stay. We enjoyed Acadia, the ocean and its many bays, the rocky, rolling countryside, the wildlife, quiet nights and the clear, star-filled night sky. Despite living all the way across the country, I am looking forward to a return trip; and there’s nowhere else I would choose to stay.

Just lovely
The house was literally spotless. I've stayed at a lot of rentals and honestly, this was top three for cleanliness. Beyond that the pictures are completely accurate. The place is beautiful, windows abound and the beach access is awesome. The kitchen is well stocked. We cooked breakfast every day and got a couple of frozen pizzas one night. We were there when the nor' Easter hit but found ourselves checking out Ellsworth during the day and playing games, listening to music and enjoying champagne in the evening. The place is so homey and cozy, it was perfect. The day after the storm we saw a sea otter and some cool looking ducks, and went oyster hunting and beach combing right outside! I will say if you want to sleep after 5am bring a eye mask if sleeping in bright light is an issue for you. The windows are great, but I'm sensitive to the light and had trouble. Definitely hope we can return in season when Perry's is open too!!

A small slice of heaven
Idle Hour II is amazing. We could have easily stayed on the property for the entire duration of our visit and never tired of the view. We did make day trips into the nearby town of Ellsworth for groceries and Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor to hike and see the sights. The sunrises at IHII are unparalleled and we found sea glass along the shore. Top notch bird watching as well. The property managers were amazing and communicative, and everything in the house is clearly labeled. A dream of a stay!
