For simple yet sleek country accommodation less than an hour from Wellington and only a few minutes from the beach, look no further than the three-bedroom Bunkhouse at The Lodge Te Horo.

Remember the days of school camp, where you explored the great outdoors, played games and shared stories into the late evening, fought over the top bunk, and ate your breakfast in the morning sun wondering what the day had in store for you? Well, a stay here at The Bunkhouse is set to take you right back there, but this time it's going to be a whole lot more comfortable!

Wake up in the morning, whip up breakfast in the dine-in kitchenette and then head out to explore! Go on an adventure to the beach or hit up one of the many trails just a short drive north at Otaki Forks.

When you come home, a cosy living space awaits! The heat pump will keep you at just the right temperature while you put your feet up on the couch, and the WIFI and TV offer entertainment options for the whole family.

Come night time, three tastefully decorated bedrooms each feature a set of bunks and a door out to the covered patio. The bunks in each room have a single on top and either a king single or double on the bottom, offering sleeping options for almost any group. And the separate shower and toilet provide that extra little bit of convenience come the morning.

The Bunkhouse rests on an immaculately kept lifestyle block and is perfectly positioned to enjoy rural views in the afternoon sunshine. Expansive lawns mean you can stage your very own game of backyard cricket, finishing up the match in style with a few sausages on the BBQ and well deserved cold bevvy!

The Bunkhouse is just two minutes drive from the small township of Te Horo. It’s only a 10-minute drive north to Otaki for eateries, a supermarket, outlet shopping, and the beautiful Otaki Beach, and for a beach a little closer and quieter, Te Horo Beach is only six minutes drive west.

Highly recommended and just 200m from The Lodge Te Horo is one of New Zealand's top cooking schools, owned by renowned caterer Ruth Pretty. Book in for a masterclass, or visit the Garden Room, a glass covered outdoor area serving delightful morning and afternoon teas.

Waitangi Weekend Getaway

This property is in a beautiful and peaceful country setting. The house was immaculately clean and tidy. Only downfalls were there wasn't an oven or a microwave and only a Baby Weber BBQ. The amenities listed didnt point this out. There was also inadequate supply of a dish cloth, extra rubbish bags and toilet paper. In saying this we still had a really enjoyable weekend and thankfully someone had brought an electric frying pan so we managed to improvise with that and what was available to us.
