âThe room was comfortable and perfect for my stay. Spacious and very convenient. I like show everything was clear and accessible. Location and surrounding areas was good for downtown LA. â
âQuite expensive but we had a really nice stay so it was worth it. On our long trip thru cali this was the only hotel who lived up to the expectations. Close to the arena otherwise not much to do or see downtown LA imo. Wouldve loved to stay for more days!â
âVery friendly staff in the reception and security very polite and always greeted you with respect. Room clean and fully equipped like refrigirator and coffemaker. Maybe room somewhat not updated but alright. I stayed for a full week and was very pleased. â

âThis property was a very nice choice for my husband and I. We were greeted and helped right away! The staff was very friendly and very helpful. What was odd is that we had gone on a trip with our friends and they stayed here at this same location but they had a 360 when it came to their service. The staff ignored them when they asked for helped. One friend asked a staff member were the bathroom was and the staff just gestured with their hand and didnât say a word. They were rushed at the Valet...
âIt's a historic building with a sense of elegance. Because it's downtown, you can hear some noise at night, but other than that, there are no problems.â

"Letâs start with the good: the staff were always friendly. Check-in was smooth, and we could go straight to the room thanks to the Sonder app.
Now for the bad. On our first morning, we discovered that the toaster basically caused a fireâit completely incinerated the bread due to a malfunction. When we later tried to heat up a store-bought pizza, the oven didnât work either. I reported the issue, and they said a technician would come by, but no one showed up. The following day, a technician finally arrived and said the oven needed to be replaced. I naively assumed it would be done quickly. But throughout our entire 6-night stay, nothing was done about the toaster or oven.
As a result, we had to throw out food we had planned to cookâworth around $65. Not a single apology or compensation from Sonder Marriott.
The area was loud and felt unsafe. Luckily, we had a room on the 11th floor; otherwise, we wouldnât have gotten a wink of sleep. I do not recommend Sonder The Craftsmanâpaying guests are treated with total disregard and an uncaring attitude.

"Really nice hotel but canât really see why anyone would like to stay in this part of LA unless your doing business in downtown or have friends to visit there like I had. Downtown LA is not a place to be for tourists if you want to see the best of LA. I felt completely safe though on hotel premises, in my single room I had a safe for my valuables and during day time it is of course safe to walk around on the streets nearby but of course keep out/away from the Skid Row area with all the tents. The homeless people are nice and I never felt threatened but look ahead where you are going on the streets and donât look down into your phone.
Single room with a skyview at almost the top but a 13 floor building wonât give so much skyview at all in downtown LA.
Some reviewers here have praised the shower, I looked into my shower and thought thatâs just a regular shower head but OMG that water pressure was superb!
So I am still recommending this hotel for anyone having a purpose to visit downtown LA (not just random touristing of LA) or a romantic getaway where you want to stay in and old fashioned hotel, enjoy the rooftop bar and going by taxi to a restaurant at the evening when it is dark outside (avoid walking when it is dark!).
The tiles in the bathrooms of my single room was really beautiful and the bed just perfect.
So this hotel canât do much about its surroundings but the historic elevators could get some more love by hotel management.

Apart from that, nice room, breakfast was decent, but had it not been included in the room, I wouldnât have paid $28 for it.
This is DTLA so the weak hearted should not go out for walks in the area during the evenings, as thereâs a lot of homeless people in the area."
