Our stay in Venice was lovely but the check-in process was SO FRUSTRATING it started our trip in a very negative way. We arrived in Venice at 9:00 so we stored our luggage near the train station as suggested by the host. We toured around and ate lunch until we could get the key from the key manager, Ernst. We agreed to meet at 15:30 but unfortunately being in a new city we got lost when we went back to pick up our luggage. While we were lost Ernst texted us and told us he could only wait until 15:45, a 15-minute window! He said otherwise we would have to wait until the evening to meet up. On top of being lost we had been up on an all-night flight and we now couldn't get into the apartment until the evening. Ernst went on to tell us how we inconvenienced him and how hard his day was - he had to cross the city for a meeting, "lots of people" were waiting for him and that we should have checked in and then go back for our luggage! He ended up coming to us at the bus station since we were struggling and gave us a video on how to get into the apartment which worked for us. I did not appreciate his tone with me and didn't need the added stress to our first day in Italy.We only had one issue in the apartment. There is a water reservoir in the dryer that needed emptied between loads or it shuts off. We were not familiar with a dryer like that. We googled the dryer to figure out why it kept shutting off and figured it out. Cleaning staff should empty the reservoir between guests.
