we loved it!
This was a 5-day, large family, vacation. There were a few minor issues, but nothing we couldn't overcome. We absolutely loved the location. There were a couple of days that we didn't even leave the property. The mosquitos were horribly, horribly bad! We went through a lot of insect spray and tiki torch fuel, but we were prepared for them. Thanks, Lisa

Almost Perfect!
First thing are the mosquitoes, it would be amazing for them to hire someone to treat some of the areas. The property itself is amazing and is a great for a kayaking adventure starting from Riverbank. Having been inside a few things were quirky or didn’t work as expected. Plumbing upstairs needs to be snaked as the water was low upon arriving and could only take liquids. Washer on extra rinse would cause the water to not drain, disabling this would be ideal for guests not ready to problem solving. Overall Glenda has an amazing home and accommodated our wedding party very well. We had folks coming in and heading out throughout the time of our stay, each one raving about the things to do in the area and enjoying the spaces the house accommodates.

Fabulous family retreat
This is a well appointed, clean and very comfortable homey house with plenty of sleeping spaces. Our group had 5 family units and kids ranging from 1-17 and we all had a terrific time. We did all our own cooking and by far this kitchen had the most pans and accessories of any home I’ve rented. Lots of indoor and outdoor fun with ping pong and pool tournaments into the night. Great deck and fire pit too. Bring your bug spray and your fishing poles!

Overall property was what we read about and expected. Location was great for Lake George! Shortly after arrival the grass was cut, but large clumps remained in yard. Landscaping timing could gave been better! Stream was very high, so going off rope swing was fun! The only major drawback of outdoor activities was the mosquitoes. They were absolutely brutal. We could not use the firepit near the stream at all. We were able to eat outside on the deck one time. A screened gazebo would be advised! If you are thinking of renting and perhaps have a pop up screened tent I would strongly recommend you bring it!! One bed on the second floor with the toddler bed in the room is in desperate need of a new mattress. People had fun with the pool table but only one pool stick had a tip on it!! Recommend that some clutter in the area of the pool table be relocated for easier movement. Towels and sheets are abundant so that wasn't a problem. Soccer ball and wiffle ball bats available...bring a wiffle ball or two though!!! Make sure if you have a large party you go with an adequate supply of toilet paper and paper towels, there will be a small starter supply when you arrived.

Great Place with a couple short comings
The house was great. Lots of room so everyone could have their own space. Right on the river. There is a current on the bend but not too strong. Everyone enjoyed the pool and ping pong tables. Although a personal preference the bed mattress were very soft for most of us. Short comings were few but the light over the kitchen table was filled of cobwebs and only 2 of the 5 bulbs worked. When I took out a stack of plates from the cupboard I got drenched with water that were sitting on the plates. On the second stack I was prepared and dumped water from them into the sink. There were also pots that had water sitting in them. There was also a shortage of bowls to hold salads, spaghetti etc. Overall it was a great place and we had a great time.

Fall family getaway.
Second time using the house. Absolutely love the location. Very secluded. Close to Lake George. Adults and teens loved the ping pong table and pool table. Everyone had a great time.

Relaxing and cozy
The house was in a relaxing area with water in the back for playing and fishing. There were a few hiccups along the way but overall, it was a nice experience for the whole family.

ADK getaway centrally located to much
We rented this last minute for an impromptu getaway. We were very happy with being able to bring the dog and swim in the river. The house had old style Adirondack decor and a cabin feel. We enjoyed the river. My husband caught a 13 in bass and my son enjoyed trying to catch fish in a net. We could see them in the clear water swimmng by. We tied up floats to a tree with a 50 ft rope (brought from home) and relaxed safely in the water. I reccomend life jackets for kids and adults because there's a decent current. We saw kayakers come by. The fire pit is away from the house and by the river so we didn't use it at night. We stayed the 3rd week of August and did not have problems with mosquitoes like other guests complained about. However, we had MICE! We left pantry items on the kitchen counter and on a table in the furnished garage and it was chewed through and all had to be tossed. The doors from the garage to outside don't latch properly and we came home from Lake George to find them open and a chipmunk running inside. There are cots in the garage and counted towards the sleeping capacity of the home but I would definitely NOT suggest sleeping out there. I had real trouble overlooking the mice situation but aside from that it was a nice place to stay with plenty of activities including the river, ping pong, & pool table. The outdoor deck was nice and lit with cafe lights making for a nice ambiance. The house is very centrally located to Lake George and Loon Lake. We were able to visit Lake George Village, hike Mt. Kipp, do the Painted Pony Rodeo and dine in Chestertown and go back and forth to the house to let the dog out, make a sandwich, etc. The downstairs beds are very hard but it was fine for us. The washer stops on the rinse cycle and had to be reset to spin but we figured it out. The house and bathrooms were clean. The downstairs shower needs a new shower liner because it was moldy which was the only thing aside from the mice that disturbed me. Access to a broom and some disinfectant spray would have been nice especially when traveling with pets. The water temperature fluctuates so be careful bathing children and be ready to help them if it gets too hot. Glenda responded to my emails timely and apologized for the mice issue saying that she had poison set out.

Riverside setting made our stay
The VRBO host was always pleasant, attentive and helpful. Set along the river, our family enjoyed kayaking, creek hikes and water play. The cabin is far away from city light pollution that star gazing was a special treat. My only criticism is that, upon arrival, the house was dirty: floors unswept and unwashed, and carpets not vacuumed. We even had to request a broom to do some of the work ourselves.

Holiday weekend with friends in Lake George.
This property is well suited for a summer get away. In winter and cold weather, guests cannot fully enjoy the game rooms containing the pool table & ping pong table, as you cannot heat both rooms simultaneously. We were able to make the best of the situation by wearing our winter coats, but this is not ideal with young children for an extended period of time. The mattresses need to be replaced and the house could use maintenance. The owners were very helpful when we had questions or concerns, even coming to the property to check on us. We enjoyed our stay, with the overall consensus being that the house could be better maintained and updated for the money guests are paying.

A nice "chillaxing" vacation.
The kiddos loved the river experience and game rooms. The owner was quick to respond when contacted. Family hiked to Slipping Rock Falls in Hogtown and enjoyed whitewater rafting at Sacandaga SOC.

Fun time on shroon river.
Property is beautiful and well kept. Couldn't enjoy it to much during the day because of the overwhelming amount of mosquitoes. Fire pit was fun and helped alot with the skeeters. All in all a good time.

This was a nice house and would have been a great vacation if not for the THOUSAND OF SWARMING MOSQUITOS. We couldn't even go outside to the river or on the deck. If we had to go out, we covered completely and ran. We went thru 17 cans of bug spray, 4 jugs of citronella torch liquid and had to buy10 torches and none of it helped. I've read back and seen other complaints from the past. They should treat this property. If I didn't want to enjoy the outdoor amenities I could have rented ace at 400/night, but instead paid the 600/night. And the owners never answered my messages. So disappointed, what a waste of money. Thanks for ruining our vacation Glenda. At least be honest about your properties issues.

Good times with family
Enjoyed our stay, plenty of room for everyone and the kids loved the pool and ping pong tables. Water was nice but make sure to bring your life jackets because it is much deeper than we realized and there is a decent current not too far from the edge. Beds really need upgrading and we found fleas and an old dead mouse in kitchen cupboard but other than that we enjoyed ourselves a lot.

This property is beautiful the pictures don’t do justice at all , I rented this cabin for July 4th weekend and it was just what we needed, We had a misunderstanding with the check in process because there are two cabins with the same number and there was another group already installed in our cabin , but Glenda took care of everything after a few minutes. Beautiful house and location!
Loved this house! The pictures are great but when you actually see it in person it's so much more. Although the weather wasn't the greatest, this house had so many things to keep us busy. The property is beautiful and close enough to everything, but far enough if you're looking for some peace and serenity. This is definitely one of my favorite finds! We will come back!

Great family getaway
We had a great time with our adult children and their children 7 months to 14. The home was clean and full of fun things for the kids . ( pool, ping pong games) They loves swimming in the river , fire pits and the land to run . Beautiful serene location ! Highly recommended!

Great Location
Our group had a great time. We were close to a grocery store if we needed anything, there was plenty of sleeping space. The internet worked great. Loved being on the river, we drove to Lake Placid and Lake George close to many different spots. Hiked Mt. HACKENSACK, which was also very close. The only negatives were 2 of the beds were hard, but overall I would recommend to anyone with a large group.

Great property
Big house with five bedrooms, two playrooms with ping pong table and pool table, large deck with great barbecue grill, lovely front yard and an awesome river right on the property. The only drawback is we had to clean the fire pit in the backyard which was left v messy from previous guests, but once that was done it was amazing for s’mores and sitting around the fire. The location is great, very close to Lake George’s downtown area, and Bolton’s Landing.

Very helpful!
Glenda was great with communicating! I messaged her a few times and she was very timely with responses! The property was very nice and private but be warned it was very buggy! Nothing you can’t fix with some spray and a fire out back however. This is a great house for a big group of people there’s enough space between the pool room, the living room, the ping pong room, and the kitchen to all hangout and have a fun night. Lake George is also only 20 or so minutes away so my group and I took a little day trip. The location is great! Thank you so much for the great stay Glenda we’ll definitely be back for another fun weekend!

Awesome family getaway!!
We had a great time! The house was perfect for our crowd of 13! The owner was accommodating and very nice. The house was clean and comfortable! We visited at the end of July, make sure you bring lots of bug spray! Mosquitos are hungry! Didn’t stop us from enjoying the yard, rope swing and lots of bonfires. I highly recommend this location!

Big enough for a large family but not sure it was worth $4800 for the week.
My family and I stayed there for our annual vacation. There was 11-13 of us at any given time. We love the Lake George region and were looking forward to staying in that area. The yard is beautiful with plenty of room for physical activity. Unfortunately, the river was at a low point in the season, so there was no using the rope. We did, however swim in the river and it was nice. The house isn't quite as close to the Center of Lake George as described. And, there was no shuttle to the Center either. We had to drive to the Center...it was about a 17-20 minute drive. The house, itself, wasn't as anticipated. The mattresses were very old and uncomfortable to sleep in. The cold/hot water mixing was terrrible in the upstairs bathroom! It took 3-4 minutes to get the water to a temperature that was maliable. The kitchen is very small and tight. Not really an issue for us because we ate outside most of the time. However, the dishwasher is on the second floor! So, if you wanted to wash dishes in the diswasher, you had to cart them up to the second floor to do so. The ping pong table and the pool table were a big hit at night! As was the fire pit! We ran out of propane for the grill on Wednesday night...right in the middle of cooking marinated chicken and steak...very, very disappointing! I did leave a message for Glenda that night. She apologized and we had a full canister the next morning. I would highly recommend more trash cans for the house. Two trash cans for large families is definitely not enough unless you plan on emptying them every other day. I don't think my family and I will return again...I do have to say though, with all the interesting things to do in the Lake George area, we will definitely be going back again! We had an amazing time!

My friends and I stayed up over the past weekend after a dance and we loved it!
The river was so much fun off the rope swing! The house was a great fit for 15-20 of us. I cant thank the owner enough for a great weekend and making us comfy and at home, although a lot of bugs, the bug spray helped! Hard to keep clean because outdoors and we didn’t want to be messy because of the doors staying open with the nice weather but it was so much fun! Hoping to come again next year!

We use a chemical fogger to help keep them down , but most guests don't want us using too much of that either. The rope swing does seem to be quite a hit! omg where to start.....it was so clean and roomy!!! it was the perfect spot for my family and dog!!

Beautiful land and cabin, horrible experience
Prior to our arrival, I tried to contact the owner with no response.. to confirm we were checking in correctly and to find out why the lights and all of the tv's had been on when we walked in, which was a little odd. Between then and our departure, I had tried numerous times to contact the owner via email and phone without any response. The screens in the two converted garages had holes in them, letting in a ton of mosquitos, so we had guests who ended up sleeping on air mattresses (that we had thankfully brought just in case) in others rooms because they would have been eaten alive sleeping in the garages. The refrigerator did not seal correctly, there were crushed beer cans on the lawn close to the river, more than a few cups and plates in cupboard were covered in food/stains clearly unwashed, there was soap to wash dishes but no sponge which we had to purchase, the grill ignighter was broken so we had to go back out and buy matches, and there were ants and mice EVERYWHERE inside the house. At night, we had multiple mice running past our feet in the kitchen. We also woke up in the morning to mouse droppings on our nightstands in our bedrooms and throughout the entire kitchen. We loved the property, but were absolutely grossed out. If we had came for the weekend with our children, we would have immediately left. We even had wiped down the tables when we got there and the paper towels turned brown. The air conditioning worked ok in most of the rooms (not all) and the property was beautiful, but we were extremely dissapointed with not only the condition of the house, but the complete lack of concern or response from the owner. We left the house cleaner than it was when we arrived, left two soapy bowls (that were covered in dried food in cabinet when we got there) soaking in sink for them to be helpful, and even stripped the linens for the cleaning maids whom we left a cash tip for.... and did not receive our entire security deposit back. I promptly emailed the owner early this morning in regards to the matter and reasoning for not receiving the full amount back and still have not heard back. Extremely and utterly dissapointed that I had to leave this review. We absolutely will not be staying at this property, or any of the properties under this owner ever again.

I'm not quite sure what to say in terms of communications with our guests. We offer 10 properties in this area and this is what I get up every morning and take great pains to do properly. This guest doesn't say if they called the office number or my cell. Within about 2 hours of a guest's arrival I personally go to each property for a final inspection, turn many lights on and the TV. This is the first time in 10 years I've had any guest think it was odd. I thought it was part of our hospitality so that guests didn't arrive in a dark lonely looking house. I ve had positive reviews in the past that spoke about how they liked this personal touch. As far as mosquitos goes, we do have them on the river. Maintenance people have chemical foggers that are used to deter them, but some guests are not happy with the thought of chemicals being used. It's a hard balance to achieve. This year is particularly bad because of so much rain. As for mice, I'm truly sorry for that, but it simply wasn't reported to me at the time. We have had record rain this year and that does tend to drive the critters inside. We take precautions such as traps and poison in the basement where it's locked up and also I've installed the electronic devises as a deterent. I will take the dirty bowls that were found under serious consideration and discuss this with the maids. I stand by my employees for the most part as they are a great group of workers. They are human and if this was neglected the issue will be resolved. The security deposit is not received by me. VRBO places a hold on their card and it is returned with 10 to 14 days after departure providing I don't report damages. This process was followed by me in this case and I have responded timely.

This place was amazing!
We had a small, weekend gathering with a about 10 or so guys, and this house was absolutely perfect for the occasion! Starting with the outside, there is plenty of yard to play lawn games and hangout. There is also a nice fire pit (which Glenda provided a ton of firewood) down by the river. The house has a nice patio with a grill, making it perfect for a cook out. The inside is simply beautiful. Two full bathrooms, and a ton of bedrooms. Everybody had their own bed to sleep in. We didn't spend too much time indoors because the weather was amazing, but we did take advantage of the pool and ping pong tables! Overall, we had a great stay. Glenda and her husband were easy to get a hold of, and took care of everything for us. I would absolutely consider this house again for another weekend getaway!

Fantastic for a Family Get-Away!
The house was exactly right for our one-week, ten-person family vacation. I'd absolutely recommend it to family and friends, and depending on the size of our group next year we will absolutely consider staying here again! Pros: - Tons to do within an hour's drive (Fort Ticonderoga, lakes/ponds/rivers galore, hiking, towns of Lake Placid/Bolton Landing/Lake George/Saratoga Springs, etc.) - On a "perfect" river with a little "beach"; slow relatively warm water good for limited swimming / quick dunks as well as canoeing/tubing (we put in at the property and ~ 5 hours later pulled out at County Home Bridge Rd a few miles downstream) - Huge, HUGE grassy backyard perfect for games - Fantastic porch for outdoor meals - Two car garage converted into two game rooms - Two kitchens (for us that was a plus because we used both refrigerators) - Secluded and private - Fire pit next to the river - Toys for toddlers (play house, kid pool, etc.) - Responsive owners/managers - Pet friendly - I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff - WiFi (which is really a good thing to have, since many of us, especially those with AT&T lacked cell service here...which I'm putting down as a PRO!!!) - Clean and well-maintained Cons - Property secluded, but can still hear highway when outdoors, even later at night (note: not a big issue outdoors, and not an issue at all when inside) - Found a few stray pieces of broken glass near fire pit - No outdoor location to put out trash

So happy this guest took the time to explain many of the amenities at the cabin. The only concern I have and am puzzled by was how he missed the outside trash cupboard. It s a $500.00 rubbermaid double door trash closet. It sits under a shed directly outside the cabin by the parking area. It s visible the moment you pull in the parking lot and says " trash" on the door. It s periodically picked up by our maintenance crew. Actually quite humorous. Nice Place
The place is nice and was clean. Pretty secluded, we could sort of see one other house. Plenty of parking. Dog friendly, and a big yard. The yard is buggy so bring bug spray (can't really hold that against the house since one of the draws is that it's right next to the river). Overall we had a nice time.

Thanks so much for letting us know that you enjoyed your stay. I know-those pesky insects! We have a fogger for certain times of the year for blackflies and mosquitos, but we don't like to overuse it. In fact, some guests have asked that we not chemically treat. Hard to win that battle sometimes! The wrist and leg bands for keeping them away has been recommended. I've even seen them passed out at outdoor weddings. A Great Retreat!!!
Since our family is our most treasured gift, my husband and I decided to rent a home that would accommodate our small clan (6 adults and 5 children) as a way to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. This river side log cabin was the perfect choice. The house was immaculate, the setting breadth taking, and of course, the Schroon River was a delight for young and old alike. Glenda thought of everything...from lots of towels to forgotten tooth brushes and wood for the large outdoor fire pit. I think she even provided 7 warm sunny days for us because the weather was perfect (the week of July 2, 2016). We took day trips each day (Lake George, Fort William Henry, Ausable Chasm, Painted Pony Rodeo, Water Slide World, Garnet Mine Tour, and Loon Lake for swimming/boating for the children (aged 3,6,7,8,9). After each outing we returned to the cabin to relax on a tube in the river, fish, and enjoy roasted marsh mellows around a blazing fire. Our oldest grandson literally cried as we left. Thank you for making our 50th anniversary family celebration so memorable. Carole M.

Great location, home is comfortable and spacious
We enjoyed the stay immensely and look forward to another return visit. The home is very comfortable and the grounds are expansive with river access. Bring firewood, you'll want to use the fire pit and enjoy the evenings outside. Plenty of room for the 6-7 adults we had with room to spare. If you bring kids, then you'll have plenty more space with the bunk beds and smaller twins available. Happy travels.

House is great
15 of my friends and I went up and the house was perfect for what we needed. Each room had an air conditioner which turned out to be clutch in the warm weather we had. The kitchen was perfect for preparing our food and there was a spare fridge to store extra food in. Outside they have a huge yard which we fully enjoyed and took full advantage of. By the water there was an awesome area for a fire and great location next to the river, which the water was very clean and we relaxed in the entire day. I would totally recommend this house to anyone else but would advise that if you are trying to contact the owner save enough time ahead because the phone number provided is not a cell number and took awhile to get back to me.
