With holiday traffic, we didn’t get to hotel until 1:30am. The person at front desk said because we were late, our reservation for 4 days had been cancelled (which we understood). I asked if it could be re-booked and he said no, there was nothing he could do. After explaining we had been in car all day and just needed him to create a new booking just like the one we had made, he said maybe he could get us a room but it would require an extra deposit, early booking fee and he we wouldn’t get the same rate we had originally booked. We would also have to wait 1-3 hours while the computers re-booted as they were in a nightly rebook (after he had shown me on the computer our reservation being cancelled). I expressed my frustration and was told to ‘check my attitude’. I walked outside to call nearby hotels and during this time the person at the desk told my wife he could waive the deposit to ‘help us out’. We went to the Quality Inn down the street who was happy to take us and checked us in within 5 minutes and even gave us a discount off the Expedia listed price.
