If you are in BKK for shopping, experiencing the city and at the same time staying at a hotel which is new, in good condition and slightly young/trendy X2 is good and good value for money. Located within 5min walk to On Nut station and the BTS, close to both Tesco and 7-11 and around OnNut you'll find OK restaurants and everything from Starbucks to food courts. The hotel has a small but functional gym and a surprisingly good SPA. Some food for dinner or room service which is OK if you're hungry, but not a great food experience. The vast majority of the guests are big groups of young Chinese tourists, for which the hotel probably is ideal. The only real disappointment was the breakfast which fills you up, but is quite poor really when it comes to choices and quality.
However, if you are looking for a resort-style hotel where you can spend a day or two at the pool etc then you should look elsewhere. Also, while the area around the hotel is practical (food stores, BTS, close to exit to expressway to airport...) there's nothing of real interest in the neighbourhood. You'll need to get on the BTS or order a Grab.
