Entrance to Barton Marina, Staffordshire. Note the extra development since this 2006 image. 358258 The name has changed from "Barton Turns Marina" to "Barton Marina and Waterfront". It now has its own restaurant and pub, "The Waterfront", shopping galleries, including a butcher and a baker who bakes on the premises!

Mill Bridge near Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire. Trent and Mersey Canal. The canal was fully opened in 1777. Mill Bridge (No 39) used to carry Mill Lane across the canal to the A38, and across. Since the dual carriageway was constructed, this route has been closed, and people from Barton-under-Needwood are routed to other more elaborate crossings which allow uninterrupted traffic flow on the A38.

Works well for a family (with a car)
We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment, which had everything a family could need for brief stops inbetween visiting the surrounding area (including a baby chair and a crib available on request). The only thing was that a radiator made some strange noises now and then (even when switched off).
