Located in pastoral Glenn between Saugatuck and South Haven, you and your guests will find yourselves somewhere back in time as you approach the expansive compound sitting majestically at the end of a winding, coast-hugging road where it is not unusual to see a gathering of deer lazily grazing.
The propertyâs rich history is palpable and goes back more than 100 years. Originally built in 1903 by the Chicago Diocese of the Episcopal Church as the summer home of the Girlsâ Friendly Societyâa haven for young ladies who would arrive at the nearby fruit docks by boat to enjoy crafts, games, and socializing away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The property is home to two unique structures, Pine Lodge and Bluffside, both extensively updated and modernized in 2021 while retaining their historic character. Rent them together for large gatherings or separately for more intimate stays; both enjoy convenient access to 255 feet of pristine fresh-water beach. After a day at the beach, spend the evening playing lawn games or roasting s'mores around your fire pit on the expansive lawn overlooking Lake Michigan.
Spend a day or two in downtown Saugatuck or South Havenâboth only 11 short miles awayâto immerse yourself in the local flavor of eateries, boutiques, art galleries, and more. Just a short bike ride away, you'll find an assortment of orchards, wineries, and Waypost Brewing - one of the best up-and-coming breweries in the state.

This property was designed with a rustic-camp-with-modern amenities vibe! The original wood floors show many years of love including paint splatters - just the way we like it! Floors are uneven and there is no AC. However, the views and sounds of Lake Michigan just out your door cannot be beat!
This property is perched on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. The breeze off the lake brings with it remnants of lake water and sugar sand beach. Due to this, the floors get sandy quickly (within a couple of hours of vacuuming).
The surrounding trees provide shade and help bring in the breeze. They are also home to a vibrant ecosystem. The home is professionally treated for pests monthly, but a few bugs and sometimes a bat or mouse are to be expected.
There is no central air conditioning. However, there are multiple ceiling fans throughout and the most amazing breeze off the lake. We recommend opening the sliders and windows to the screen porch to let the breeze in.Â
