Fortingall stone circles There are three 'circles' of stones [two shown here] in a field to the south of the B846, but all three are very basic with just 3 or 4 stones each.
Fortingall Stone Circles To the E of Fortingall stand three groups of standing stones. Closest to the road are a group of four stones and a group of three stones , while further into the field, closer to the river, is another group of three. Originally they had been four-poster variants, each comprising of four large stones at the corners of a rectangle, with four smaller stones mid-way between the larger ones. In both cases, the missing five stones had been pushed over and buried deeply in prepared pits at some point in the nineteenth century. The date is known as one of the stones was found to have a Victorian beer bottle under it.

Lovely spacious and comfortable location in Glen Lyon and the tiny gem of Fortingall. Great access to Scottish Crannog Center and amazing walks in all directions. Nice little back garden, electric car charge and Hotel Fortingall next door.

Charming b&b
Stayed at the Claymore guest house with my dad and sister. The rooms where big and clean, the breakfast was amazing, make sure to try their black pudding.
