  • Kaloli Sunrise by the Sea sits just across the road from the big blue Pacific Ocean in a charming neighborhood on Hawaii's Big Island. Enjoy the wrap around, upper lanai with views of tropical landscaping and our private swimming pool. Dip into the pool anytime and cool down after travel adventures around the inspiring island. Fall asleep to the sound of the ocean, just across the street.

    Kaloli Sunrise is a two story house with all the living areas on the second floor. The ground floor has a garage and laundry room, both for your use. The house has two bedrooms and hosts up to five guests. The primary bedroom has a large, four poster California king size bed, ensuite bathroom with two sinks, and a walk-in shower. The guest bedroom has a queen size bed and an XL twin bed. The second full bathroom is near the guest bedroom. There are all the pots, pans, utensils, and dishes that you would need to cook and enjoy local produce in the kitchen.

    The swimming pool is above ground with a surrounding deck with a few lounge chairs. We provide pool towels. The upper lanai also has two dining tables with chairs so you can sit and dine overlooking the pool OR the backyard landscape. We provide a binder in the house with loads of local recommendations, adventure hikes, restaurants, and favorite things to do. We hope you enjoy Kaloli Sunrise by the Sea as much as we do!

The house is roommy, fresh, and very clean. Our family of four had a great time. If I were to nitpick I would mention the roof. Sometimes it makes crackling noise as if somebody is walking on top of the house. We got used to it by the second or the third day of our stay.

Everything about this home is beautiful and stellar. It is subsided enough in a quiet neighborhood right across from the ocean yet in a good location to get around the Big Island. We’re had the pleasure of a tsunami warning during our stay. The communication from the host company was amazing and they were there to help answer any and all questions during the event and anytime during the stay. I use VrBO frequently and this was one of my best experiences. Mahalo!

The house is comfortable in a really nice neighborhood across the road from the ocean. You can see a tiny keyhole view through the neighbors trees, but I would not consider it an ocean view. It is however a very short walk to a path that leads to the ocean. There is a wonderful lanai on the property but no lounge type chairs to enjoy the sunrise, only the table and chairs for meals. The roof is extremely noisy throughout the day and night as the metal roof expands and contracts with temperature changes. A way to access the garage from the ground floor would also be nice. For example a wireless keypad. The pool was beautiful but a bit frigid during our stay.

Ambiance & privacy

A delightful house on a quiet street. Good air circulation in the house (no AC), so open all the many windows and relax on one of two lanais while the interior cools down. The evenings were quite pleasant: Comfortable beds & evening bird/frog songs through the night (bring earplugs for sleeping!) Kitchen was well equipped. The pool was a fabulous way to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Would definitely recommend!

Nice house, no ocean view

This is a hard review. The home and pool are very nice but we rented for the promise and picture of the ocean. I had dreamed of watching the sun come up over the ocean and watching the waves for large portions of the day. We scrimped on everything else and spent almost five thousand dollars for nearly two weeksI thousand dilla

Our experience this time was as wonderful as the first. The house is beautiful, spotless and comfortable. The pool is gorgeous and in fabulous condition. The location is the best in Keaau. The street is peaceful, the ocean breezes are lovely and keep the lanai cool. The neighbors are friendly. The property management company was very responsive and professional. We've rented many houses in Hawaii and this is our favorite.

If you are staying on the Hilo side of the Big Island, this is one of our favorite streets - beautiful, safe, quiet, friendly neighbors, a few short walk to the cliffs (which are dramatic). The house was clean and well kept, and the ceiling fans and sliding doors throughout the house kept it cool. The pool was also clean and well designed and so enjoyable. The property managers responded quickly to all questions and any problems. They were a pleasure to deal with. We hope to return soon. Mahalo

There was a binder at the house with suggestions for things to do and see. We hiked the trail to Shipman Beach - the trail head was right around the corner. So glad we did. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water! Volcanoes park was a 45 minute drive. Snorkeled at Richardson's Beach Park in Hilo and saw sea turtles! The pool was great for cooling off on warmer days. Recommend the house and the area. We will be back!

We expected less honestly because the price was so good - even at the last minute. The house is in a really friendly neighborhood, right across from the ocean. The pool was SPOTLESS and so refreshing after days spent exploring the island. The beds were comfortable and having two bathrooms was AWESOME (we were a party of 3). The kitchen was easy for cooking and there are two dining areas on the wrap around porch. One night it rained pretty heavily but we could still enjoy eating outside - the roof fully covers the porches. We also really appreciated the nice bath towels, pool towels, and other little amenities. They really took care of us and we would definitely book this home again, thank you!
