La Jolla Cottage by the Sea

Relaxing, quaint studio in the Bird Rock neighborhood of La Jolla. Quiet and serene with private entrance and balcony overlooking a small fish pond.

A 10 minute walk to Calumet Park with an overlook of the Pacific Ocean. Coffee shops, a bakery, yoga and restaurants all close by. A King sized pullout couch with memory foam topper sleeps 2 adults comfortably. A Twin sized mattress also available.

Cycle friendly with complementary beach cruisers to explore the Pacific Beach boardwalk, or cycle the Bird Rock path into La Jolla Village. Beach chairs, boogie boards, beach toys are available.

Kitchenette (see amenities listed), shower, and balcony.

Please enjoy our backyard from the comfort of the cottage deck. The backyard is part of our living space, and may be shared upon request.

It was so nice to return to this quiet, calm neighborhood after being out in the crowds! Super comfortable bed made sleeping easy. And it is a short walk to restaurants and coffee shops. (The coffee supplied was really good!). We were there visiting our granddaughter at UCSD which is just a short trip away and avoids freeways.

Everything was PERFECT!!! My daughter and I were in La Jolla looking at colleges and this property made our trip extra special. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous and the area around the property is beautiful. We felt really lucky to be able to spend time there!

The stay at the cottage by the sea was 5/5 due to the incredible hosts and to be within the Bird Rock neighborhood of La Jolla for this price point. If you’re looking to enjoy a relaxing side of La Jolla with quick access to the rest of San Diego, you’ll want to stay here. It’s cozy, above a garage, and while not a 5 star hotel, it was a 5 star experience. Will certainly stay here again next time we’re in San Diego!

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage for five days. It was clean, comfortable and fit our needs. The location was beautiful and close to everything we wanted to see. We loved walking down the street to get coffee and walk down to look at the gorgeous ocean. Mark and Marty were warm, responsive and made everything easy from start to finish. We will definitely love to go back and stay.

We had an amazing time staying at this little cottage in La Jolla. Very clean room with lots of extra amenities and a nice balcony view of the neighborhood. Mark and Marty were very helpful and kind to us during our stay, and we would love to come back again!

This place has the potential to be amazing, especially considering its location. However, the lack of cleanliness, particularly in the bathroom, significantly detracted from the experience. It’s particularly disappointing because there’s a cleaning fee for the listing. The shower looked like it hadn’t been deep-cleaned in years. Hair surrounded an empty body wash bottle, and the shampoo and conditioner bottles appeared dirty. The soap bottle was empty, and there was hair around the sink and the drawers. The overall cleanliness made me feel like I had crashed at a friend’s house last minute who hadn’t had a chance to clean, rather than a Vrbo I had paid hundreds of dollars for.

Incredible location and immaculate room. The neighborhood is very quiet and you can walk to many restaurants and coffee shops. The room is pretty much a big comfy bed, nice bath, and small kitchen with a lovely deck. Our hosts were away, so we spent time in their great backyard patio/garden. Biking to Pacific Beach every day was AMAZING. Marty was super communicative and helpful throughout.

The property was perfect for our stay. Loved the quiet mornings reading on the balcony. Easy walk to a coffee shop and a short drive to the beach. The owners are super nice and helpful (they even mailed back my lost AirPod). This is the second year in a row we’ve stayed there and the experience, as before, was exceptional.
