Route 66 Lake House

About this space
This 2 bedroom 2 bath modular house , by the edge of a lake, sits on a 20 acre oasis in the Mojave Desert. The shared lake is perfect for fishing , swimming, using one of the pedal boats or just floating around. There is a golf cart available to visit the tortoise preserve where several types of desert tortoises have been rescued, and ride around the ranch. There is a labyrinth which is there to walk morning or night. The ranch is only for visitors and not open to the public.
The space
The Lake House is furnished with family antiques. The ranch was not designed as a commercial enterprise but for family and friends of which you as a guest, become. The house on the lake has aces to pedal boats, a kayak, fishing and swimming. Nearby is the tortoise preserve where rescue tortoises can be observed. There is a large Art Studio which is available by reservation. It is great for larger conferences.
Guest access
There is not a real town of Newberry Springs other than a couple of bars, a post office, a convenience store and take-out food. Any major shopping must happen in Barstow or on-line. We get super delivery service from UPS and our local post office. Close-by attractions include Calico Ghost Town, Mitchell Caverns in the Mojave Desert Preserve, Afton Canyon, Mojave Desert Museum, a railroad museum and the Desert discovery Center. Areas for hiking and rock-hounding ae easily accessible.
Other things to note
The air conditioning is an Evaporative Cooler. For longer visits, I do not replace toiletries and cleaning supplies
