We had been using VRBO for nearly 20 years and have never felt compelled to leave such a negative review-until now.This apartment in Paris was a deeply frustrating experience from start to finish. Upon arrival, communication was insufficient. There were no instructions provided for the apartment, including how to operate basic equipment, which made settling in unnecessarily difficult. The most serious issue, however, was the lack of hot water. It was not possible to take even a 3-minute shower without the water turning ice cold. This is the fundamental amenity, and its absence significantly impacted our stay.What made matters worse was the confusing and ineffective management structure. The property appears to be listed through VRBO, owned by Belvilla, and operated locally by a company called Checkmyguest. When we reported the hot water issue on the first day, Checkmyguest repeated failed to show up for appointments to address the issue. Three full days of our vacation were devoted to trying to solve this problem. Meanwhile, VRBO and Belvilla were unable-or unwilling-to intervene to help solve the water problem.The fragmented setup effectively insulated everyone from taking responsibility, leaving us without any aide during our stay.I strongly recommend that future renters carefully investigate not just the listing, but the mgt structure. In our situation, this arrangement made it impossible to resolve even basic issues.VRBO customer service terrible.
