Attention all hosts: If Reg and Peg decide to stay at your place, you just got lucky. They are the ideal guests; really friendly, good people, and they take great care of the cabin, always leaving it better than they found it.

It was such a pleasure having Cheryl and her group as our guests! I tell all of my guests to check out the welcome book when they arrive at the cabin. I tell them there is a page in it which lists the locations of everything in the cabin. If she had done this she would've found the 2 giant fans (in addition to the one small one she did find) in the upstairs closet. Open up the windows and turn on the fans and the relief is immediate!

First of all, these were great guests. When I read her review I got in touch with her to find out what was not as clean as she had hoped, so that I could work with my excellent caretaker to make sure these things were clean in the future. She said it was just dusty. It is very important to me that my guests have a wonderful visit at the cabin. A big part of that is for the cabin to be clean, so I go out of my way to do regular deep cleanings and I work closely with my caretaker to keep abreast of the condition of the cabin. Unfortunately, being out in the mountains, there is bound to be dust.

This is a "Guest Cleaned" cabin, meaning we don't charge the $100 cleaning fee the agency rentals charge. In addition, it makes it more like you are staying at a friend's cabin, rather than a hotel. The understanding is that the guests leave the cabin as clean as they found it. This model works really well, as most guests leave the cabin in great shape. I go up to the cabin as often as I can and when I do I always do a deep cleaning and put things back in order. In spite of these challenges, the cabin is always in at the very least decent shape. Refer to the 144 previous 5 star reviews. Inexplicably, in spite of the fact that I make this guest cleaned policy clear to all my guests ahead of time, there are those few who are expecting it to be like a hotel. Making sure my guests have a wonderful visit is my top priority. I know how much I love going up there myself and to share that with others is a real pleasure. If my guests have a question, a concern or a problem I immediately address it to the best of my ability. When these guests reported the cabin was not as clean as they had hoped I did my best to make it right for them. I have since gone up to the cabin and done the deep cleaning it needed. No dusty shelves, cobwebs or cluttered kitchen cabinets. I also planted our beautiful flower garden, as I do every spring. I am saddened to see that this guest left us our only 2 star review in 11 years of happy guests at Chris' Cabin. As you can see, the vast majority of our reviews are 5 star.
