4 out of 5
I stayed four nights at the Hilton Garden Inn in late April 2019, and it was overall a good hotel experience. The hotel lobby is located on the fourth floor and check-in went smoothly although I was a bit surprised that I had to pay a deposit of $150.00 at check in. The hotel was opened as recently as 2014, If I'm not mistaken, and everything looked modern and neat. The bathroom in my room was plain gorgeous. The room didn't offer much of a view from the 9th floor. The room looked very clean. However, I caught the cleaning lady using the mop that she had just used to wipe the floor with in the room opposite to my own, also using the same floor mop to wipe the door and the door knob with. I cleaned my hands with soap and hot water every time I got back to my room after seeing that. The room was quiet the first three nights. I slept well despite the proximity to the neon lights and throngs of tourists at Times Square, literally a stone's throw away from the hotel. 42nd street has some noisy traffic all through the night, but excellent window insulation kept the noise from the street to a minimum. On the fourth night, the ice machine in the hallway on my floor (the 9th), started living a life of its own, and began making strange noises that went on all through the night. Fortunately, I brought earplugs with me on my trip, as I always do, which solved that problem. It's a good hotel, although I’m not sure I would choose to stay here again.
