Tulip field at sunset. This is a great time to photograph tulips if you fancy a sunburst peaking out among the stalks. It does take a fair amount of patience to find a nice looking bunch of bulbs with the sun in the right position (just partly occluded), all the while the sun is sinking further toward the horizon. It took more than 300 less-impressive attempts to net this beauty. This time I was careful to have out my 16-35mm lens, which produces lovely sunbursts with its 9-bladed aperture.

Opportunistic moment! I was intently focused on some post-sunset landscape shots of a barn when I heard some light neighing. I looked up to see a pair of horses crossing the tulip field and realized I only had a moment to get off a shot. Fortunately, I already had my 70-200 lens mounted, but I had to release it from the tripod and quickly adjust a few settings: Manual Focus -> Auto Focus, Stabilizer Off -> On, ISO 400 -> 1600, Aperture 16 -> 4, and Shutter 1/10 -> 1/640. I didn't have time to activate high speed shutter mode or servo focus, so I had to settle for just a few shots. Fortunately, I got a pretty good one with the horse in an upright position and a pleasing background.
