âThe hotel staff were VERY lovely and helpful. We arrived much earlier than anticipated, and the front desk girl helped get us settled into a different room. My only complaint of the hotel room itself was that the air conditioning barely worked at all- no matter how much we fussed with it. Not a huge deal, but it made the night a little uncomfortable.â
âThis was the perfect place to stay for my short work trip. It was extremely clean and felt very secure. The room was spacious and had a little desk where I could work. Even their simple breakfast coffee and pastry were perfect before I headed to work. I also greatly appreciated that they offered on-site parking, which was also secure. âThe room/apartment was spacious and loved that there were 2 bathrooms. Perfect location and although we were in DTLA, the noise wasnât too bad. Would recommend and will return! â

"Letâs start with the good: the staff were always friendly. Check-in was smooth, and we could go straight to the room thanks to the Sonder app.
Now for the bad. On our first morning, we discovered that the toaster basically caused a fireâit completely incinerated the bread due to a malfunction. When we later tried to heat up a store-bought pizza, the oven didnât work either. I reported the issue, and they said a technician would come by, but no one showed up. The following day, a technician finally arrived and said the oven needed to be replaced. I naively assumed it would be done quickly. But throughout our entire 6-night stay, nothing was done about the toaster or oven.
As a result, we had to throw out food we had planned to cookâworth around $65. Not a single apology or compensation from Sonder Marriott.
The area was loud and felt unsafe. Luckily, we had a room on the 11th floor; otherwise, we wouldnât have gotten a wink of sleep. I do not recommend Sonder The Craftsmanâpaying guests are treated with total disregard and an uncaring attitude.

"Really nice hotel but canât really see why anyone would like to stay in this part of LA unless your doing business in downtown or have friends to visit there like I had. Downtown LA is not a place to be for tourists if you want to see the best of LA. I felt completely safe though on hotel premises, in my single room I had a safe for my valuables and during day time it is of course safe to walk around on the streets nearby but of course keep out/away from the Skid Row area with all the tents. The homeless people are nice and I never felt threatened but look ahead where you are going on the streets and donât look down into your phone.
Single room with a skyview at almost the top but a 13 floor building wonât give so much skyview at all in downtown LA.
Some reviewers here have praised the shower, I looked into my shower and thought thatâs just a regular shower head but OMG that water pressure was superb!
So I am still recommending this hotel for anyone having a purpose to visit downtown LA (not just random touristing of LA) or a romantic getaway where you want to stay in and old fashioned hotel, enjoy the rooftop bar and going by taxi to a restaurant at the evening when it is dark outside (avoid walking when it is dark!).
The tiles in the bathrooms of my single room was really beautiful and the bed just perfect.
So this hotel canât do much about its surroundings but the historic elevators could get some more love by hotel management.
