The Neighborhood:
This fisherman's cottage in St Ives offers the perfect base for exploring one of Cornwall’s most picturesque and lively seaside towns. Famous for its golden beaches, turquoise waters, and artistic heritage, St Ives has something for everyone.
Just minutes from your door, you can enjoy Porthmeor Beach, a Blue Flag favourite for surfers and sunbathers, or stroll to Porthminster Beach, ideal for swimming and family days out. Wander the narrow cobbled streets lined with galleries, boutiques, and cafés, soaking in the town’s charming character.
Art lovers will be drawn to the world-renowned Tate St Ives, showcasing modern and contemporary works inspired by the Cornish landscape, as well as the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, where you can explore the artist’s former home and studios. The lively harbour is perfect for grabbing fresh seafood, taking a boat trip to spot seals and dolphins, or simply watching the fishing boats come and go.
For walkers, the South West Coast Path offers spectacular hikes with dramatic sea views, while nearby Carbis Bay and Godrevy provide more stunning beaches. In the evenings, enjoy a wide choice of restaurants and pubs, from casual fish and chips to fine dining with a sea view.
Getting Around:
The cottage's central location means you can explore much of St Ives and the local area on foot or by train. All of the town's best amenities and attractions surround you. The train station is a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive and the line runs all the way from London Paddington with only one change. You can also catch the train to Carbis Bay, which is a great ride that goes around the edge of the cliff, as well as further afield. There is also a good number of buses servicing the local area.
For those who do drive, there are numerous paid car parks in St Ives. The Sloop Car Park is seconds from the property, but is rather small so you may struggle to get a spot - especially during peak season. The Island Car Park and Barnoon Long Stay Car Park are both around 5 minutes walk and much larger.
Other Things to Note:
Sea Air is a historic cottage full of character. This also means that it wasn't built to modern building proportions. The property is split over three levels, with the master bedroom located on the top floor and accessed by a quite steep, narrow staircase. It therefore may not be suitable for those with mobility limitations.
The cottage is centrally located and, whilst not as busy as the harbour front itself, there is still potential for noise.
