Great spot but…
This was our second stay here after a few years. The property has a great spot with a restaurant terrace and lodging that overlooks the river. The restaurant has good food. The wine flight servings are abysmally small. The bottled wine is overpriced. The shared Aspen-Birch walls are too thin with loud neighbors. Lamps and other furnishings were dusty and had cobwebs. The shower curtain rod was rusty. Overall, spending time away in a beautiful location with access to nearby hikes overcame these little disappointments for an enjoyable weekend.

Total Tranquility - Undoubtedly, one of NC’s best kept secrets
The perfect place to unplug/disconnect, relax & rejuvenate! So grateful I stumbled upon this perfect getaway from the stressors of everyday life. The “Birch” cabin was cozy, charming, well-appointed and extremely clean…Everything we needed, plus!! The tranquility of the roaring river left us completely de-stressed. The food & wine at Chez Josephine was delightful…We dined on the covered deck overlooking the river & everything was delicious! We honestly hated to leave, but we are already planning another trip this December. We look forward to the cooler weather to take advantage of the cabin’s fire pit and the community outdoor fireplace. I still cannot believe we have this incredible property practically in our backyard (just over an hour away). Thank you to the owners for providing us such a memorable experience!!

The property is amazing and so nice to have the restaurant on site. Be sure to bring your groceries with you, or it is a drive into Elkin to get them! Elkin is a lovely place to visit as well!

Birch Unit
This was a return stay for us at Roaring River and we stayed in the Birch Unit. Perfect location for a relaxing get away. We visited several wineries and enjoyed the sounds of the river. We ate at the restaurant and the food/wine/service was wonderful. The owners are very easy to work with and check-in/check-out was simple. Look forward to our next stay.

Unique location by the river
We enjoyed the unique riverside location. It was fun to enjoy the sights & sounds of the river, and the property gives you many opportunities to do so. There is a lot to do without leaving the property. It's a little bit humid inside, even with the AC running, but I think that's to be expected when it's summertime and the river is so close. Overall, I would certainly recommend it as a fun place to relax and enjoy nature for a few days.

The best place in the middle of nowhere!
We have always enjoyed the restaurant and being able to see the roaring river that is only a few yards away while eating great food. We finally got the chance to stay at the cabin/room and we had a blast. The roaring river was right there in the back of our room and we enjoyed it immensely. We also enjoyed the little fire pit that was a lot of fun. We also enjoyed the ambiance of the local communities. We will definitely come back.

Soothes the Soul
The riverside retreat was just right for our stay! Open the door and the sounds of the river drifts all your worries away. The owner was very accommodating and helped make the stay so worth while.

Great river location
We love staying at Roaring River Vineyards because the river is beautiful and it’s nice to have a winery, restaurant and accommodations at the same place. We really enjoy relaxing at the beach area with a cold beverage in hand. We hope this area continues to be a priority for the owners. We’ve stayed here many times and each time it’s so relaxing. The units are furnished very well but this time, the mattress was showing some age. The restaurant menu is somewhat limited but a great staff insures a nice experience and we enjoyed two meals there. We always look forward to coming back.

Better than expected!
This place is really, really nice! It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay, such as outdoor couch and fire pit, grill, access to a hot tub and the delightful sound of a seriously roaring river. Very peaceful and relaxing. The restaurant had great wines and beers and the food was delicious. We’d like to return, maybe with our kids, sometime.

Tranquility
What a beautiful vineyard, good wine, and great staff & owners. We spent 3 nights in the Birch Unit which has an outdoor sitting area, fire pit, and grill. We enjoyed sipping the delicious “Rock and Roar” red wine (award winner) while having our dinner watching the moon light up the River. The rain was welcome and made the River live up to its name. So beautiful. We used the hot tub every night. Slept like babies listening to the River.

Idyllic
We spent two nights in the Birch suite because we wanted to be able to see and hear the river as we enjoyed an outside fire. Accommodations were as described and since we arrived on Sunday we were able to enjoy a wonderful dinner at Chez Josephine. On Monday we visited a couple of wineries near Elkin before getting a private wine tasting back at Roaring River. Our host could not have been more gracious as he also gave us a tour of his property and shared stories about his time there. Before we knew it almost two hours had slipped by. We had a truly wonderful experience and are already talking about when we will return for another visit.

Fall Getaway
Stayed in the Birch lodging. Great experience with River running right outside our back door. Amenities for cooking in the kitchen or grilling outside were complete. All we needed to bring was food.

Roaring River
The Roaring River Vinyard is a beautiful place, we were there on the weekend Ian came through with rain and winds but it still was one of the top places we have ever stayed. The owners were there any time before and during our stay, offered info on the places we went hiking to make things easier for us, The property was peaceful and very much up to date with anything you would need. Very nice, clean villa in a beautiful setting. We especially loved sitting on the patio listening to the river. The wine was wonderful. We spent an afternoon hiking at Stone Mountain State Park and an evening listening to music in Sparta.

Beautiful location by the river. The sound of the water is so relaxing and is a beautiful scene. The winery is on site as well as a restaurant. Just park the car and stay right there. We hiked Stone Mountain as it’s less than 10 minutes out. Full kitchen if you want to cook.

Quiet Getaway
I was very sceptical about staying here after I booked and had paid in full. I booked it on a whim as a stop on our way down for a beach vacation in SC. We are from Ontario, Canada and had a 12+ hour drive. Check in was seamless, communication was sent prior to our arrival and we had no problem accessing property. We had to change our plans (originally driving straight through on Sunday) but after reading some reviews, I realized the vineyard was only open Thursday-Sunday. We left a day early so we could taste the wine and eat at the winery (cost us a hotel along the way). The Birch unit was adorable. The setting very peaceful but you are pretty isolated. My husband had to work remotely and the wifi was excellent! There was no cell service but the wifi came in very handy. We cut our stay short (from 3 to 2 nights - ate the cost). Because my husband was WFH, I was left to my own devices. I read a book by the beautiful stream but at the cost of several bug bites. I thought I'd be able to walk the property but the signs indicated that the vineyard was private property so I respected the signage. I also thought we could use the hot tub but the sign indicated it was for owner use. We own a vacation rental property ourselves. A suggestion would be to replace/update some of the kitchen items (pans/pots/cutting board). Overall, I would recommend this property for a short stay (on a weekend), it really is beautiful. I wish we had the opportunity to see the state park but unfortunately, DH was working!

Wine and river adventures!
Our recent weekend getaway began with thr beautiful and serene setting if Roaring River Vineyards. The cabin was cozy, spicy and span clean. The convenience of an on-sight restaurant where we could also taste the wine offering was a bonus. We had a private patio are by the river with fire pit to enjoy in thr evening. Wading in the river brought back many childhood memories, especially hunting for crawdads! 😊 Look forward to visiting again!

Roaring River Vinyards
We found this vineyard by accident, spent 2 nights and couldn’t have been more thrilled. Exceptionally clean, well furnished with everything needed in house. The location is right on the river which allowed me to trout fish and enjoy the scenery. My wife and I enjoyed the host wine tasting and now have joined their wine club. The location is perfect and only 10 minutes to Stone Mountain. We look forward to going back for a much longer stay.

Wonderful nature retreat
Beautiful apartment with great amenities and wonderful setting. We were pleasantly surprise when we open the door. The communication with the property manager was quick and pleasant. We enjoyed our stay so much I keep trying to convince my husband to stay longer and he wants to rent the whole place to one with the family. I do have to make one observation and that is that you can hear the neighbors all the time so is hard if you are a very light sleeper which my husband is, the good thing is we were so tied after waterfalls and visit to the park that he pass out both nights.

Relaxing Getaway
We were very apprehensive not knowing what to expect. WOW! what a great 3 days. The accommodations were perfect. Roaring river outside, fire in the fire pit, and all to ourselves. Could not ask for a more relaxing 3 days. Highly, highly recommended. And the hiking at Stone Moutain was outstanding.

The cabin has no mold nor has anyone anyone of the several hundred people staying there ever reported this . It can smell like a cabin does sometimes . You had the owners phone number but called the business number instead which was closed. Would would have even put you in another unit had you called us .

In the NC mountains not far off the #BlueRidgeMountainTrail. Is this beautifully landscaped, peaceful, tranquil, escape from reality! If you are looking for a #Romantic #Getaway. If you are looking for a Special #Anniversary #Surprise this is the place! You could hold your bridal shower here! You could hold your #WeddingVenue here! Or use this as your #Honeymoon #Escape #Retreat! When you open the door to your #GuestRoom you will feel like you are entering a French countryside #cottage. The guest rooms are beautifully designed and decorated! The kitchen in each room has all the appliances necessary to prepare your favorite foods. Just make sure you bring all the ingredients. You are at least 30 minutes from the closest grocery store. A friendly note here: while the cottages do come with coffee pot and filters and coffee mugs. If you are some who needs breakfast when you wake up first thing. The resort restaurant is not open for breakfast so make sure you pack some breakfast food. Peaceful, beautiful surroundings but horrible bed.
The description of the surroundings were accurate. Peaceful, with a beautiful river steps from your semi-private patio. The place was fairly clean, if you didn’t look too closely. The bed in Birch was horrible. So much so I had to sleep on the couch. To have paid that much money, the owners should provide a better mattress and a bed frame that isn’t shaky and squeaky. Not a great first VRBO experience.

Birch stay
Our overall stay was very satisfying! Very relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed the restaurant, wine, and patio off our unit. Was very enjoyable to sit and read by the river. Our only complaint was tenants above us were very noisy the whole time, inside and out. No fault of the owners, some people dont consider those staying around or beneath them. Would be nice if maybe a nice note could be posted in upper unit to be respectful for those staying in lower units because heavy footsteps and loudness carries thru the floors. However, we will be returning because we've visited this winery for years!

Resort super clean and top notch accomodations
Overall, the 1 bedroom was great. Lots of room, great stream feet from room and the winery attached had some of the best wine I've tasted in North Carolina. Owners and tasting room personnel were great and accommodating. Only negative is the property in Traphill at least a 30 minute drive to other dining or other shopping, etc. So you have to basically eat at the property or bring in your own supplies which is fine as long as you are aware of. Room has a full kitchen with microwave, over, fridge so you can make your own meals. Each unit has a propane grill. So great for cooking in. Just plan ahead like we did so not a problem.

To own a vineyard you must be able to buy a large piece of land. So we are located between Elkin and Wilkesboro, NC. In the instant booking email that we send out, we mention that there are no grocery stores in Traphiil where the vineyard is. We had these rental units even before we had the restaurant.-- so we communicate this to our guests know before they leave We highly recommend that if they plan on cooking they should shop for groceries before they leave their town or shop along their way to our place. Life is so busy these days that it is easy to miss it but we address this. All the units not only have a well-equipped kitchen, but also have BBQ rgrills. So you don't have to eat at the reatuarant.

Overall, nice. peaceful location and facilities for a weekend get-a-way. Owner Tom was very friendly and helpful. Close to Stone Mountain for beautiful hiking opportunities. Did not have phone/text service while on the property but did have internet service.

River, Wine and Fun
Great property! House has beautiful deck that overlooks the river...wonderful place to drink coffee in the morning and wine in the evening! The river is was wonderful to wade in. We enjoyed both the house and the additional gathering place to play games. Truly a gem of a getaway!
