Overlooking the Akaroa Harbour and vast mountain scenery, this holiday home gets top marks for its views. Successfully weaving its beautiful outlook into the relaxed interiors with floor to ceiling windows in the living area and master bedroom, it's only too easy to unwind and take a moment to relax here.

Your family is sure to settle in and relish all the space available in the two bedrooms and open living areas. On those sunny days, lie out on the sundeck and catch some rays, or if the weather turns there's a TV and DVD player, for a bit of entertainment.

Fancy a day trip or an adventure, the heart of Akaroa is a short 25-minute drive away with lots of small picturesque towns as you drive around the harbour, views all the way!

There are plenty of cruises for dolphin spotting or swimming to choose from, or check out The Giant House for something a bit more quirky.

Try some local wine from the French Farm Winery with restaurant and bar, it's just a nine-minute drive from your front door.

Or stay local, Wainui Beach is just a three-minute drive down to the hill to the water's edge and is the perfect spot to spend a quiet afternoon fishing, swimming or just relaxing.

Great view shame about the upkeep

The view is stunning and the property is a relatively comfortable size. However, water dripping through the roof and a mould patch, lights not working or overheating and emitting burning smells, curtains unable to close and collapsing etc, takes away from the relaxing getaway we were seeking

Wonderful Views

A pleasant alternative to Akaroa, this bach in Wainui has a wonderful view out to the harbour mouth. Bach is a little tired and we felt it was expensive compared to others. But location is excellent and peaceful.

View stunning, interior warn.

The view was stunning but the property needs some attention. The property was extremely cold on arrival and we were too scared to use the gas fire after reading the reviews about it having a possible gas leak. Two lights in the main area did not work - we used the free standing lamp until it started smoking one afternoon! The sofas were so uncomfortable we actually sat on the floor - this really needs addressing. The curtain in the second bedroom broke on the second day when we went to open it. And no dishcloth meant we had to buy our own to wipe benches. I cleaned all the dishes before we used them as nothing seemed very clean. Very basic for the price.

Good not amazing

Very bachy place. Amazing view, quite well equipped. Not that clean, a lot of dust, sofas weren’t vacuumed properly, needed to vacuum under the beds and sofas. Hair from previous occupants still in the bathroom.

Great

Lovely location and views. Our thanks to the owners. We really appreciated being allowed to have dogs, the property has a reasonable fence as long as you don;t have a dog-houdini and a nice lawn for them to run around on. House clean and tidy and has all the basics. A few things mostly to do with the Bachcare process and info you get sent. The lockbox code we were given was incorrect but we sorted that by calling the 0800 number for Bachcare and got it sorted in about 10 minutes. It would be useful to highlight the lack of wifi and limited reception higher up the listing - definitely a drawcard for some in our group to be out of range but it would help others make arrangements to compensate for being uncontactable while in Wainui. Appreciate that the house had tea and instant coffee and sugar but note there was no salt and pepper, we left some pepper. We replaced the fire alarm battery. It was unclear from Bachcare emails if linen was included - the website says yes in the amenities but the booking email indicated we were responsible for bringing our own. There was linen, thanks! Likewise not clear regards the cleaning of the home at the end of the stay, does clean and tidy mean you have to clean it or does a professional cleaner come through. We would stay again and would bring cards/board games. We enjoyed the videos of some classic comedies and movies.

Wanui famiy stay

We enjoyed our stay. The property manager had turned on the heating prior to our arrival which was great. The washing machine was not operational, there was a note on it saying that it was "not listed on the advertised amenities list", I (understandably) didn't check that there was a washing machine in the property (why would I!?) given Wanui's isolated location I think a functional washing machine is pretty important, especially when travelling with kids.

Superb stay in Wainui Seaview

A beautiful view and relaxing birdsong. We enjoyed the interesting path through woodland down to the beach. The bach really lived up to the advert!
