Spacious Third-Floor Beachfront Condo with Pool

Playa Caribe 9 is a third-floor condo in Akumal’s south tower, combining Caribbean charm with spacious design. This 1,420 sq ft vacation home sleeps up to six guests in two ensuite bedrooms, each with remodeled bathrooms and double sinks. The primary suite has a king bed and private balcony, while the guest suite offers two full beds and its own balcony.

The living and dining area open through wide sliding doors to a furnished terrace, creating an effortless indoor-outdoor flow. The kitchen is fully stocked with modern appliances and a breakfast bar, perfect for easy meals or entertaining.

Cultural artwork and handicrafts bring a sense of place, while central air conditioning throughout ensures year-round comfort. Guests may also let in the Caribbean breezes by opening sliding glass doors across the three patios.

Shared amenities include a beachfront swimming pool, loungers, BBQ grill, and outdoor shower. Services include a welcome basket, daily housekeeping, concierge support, parking, purified water, and beach towels.

Half Moon Bay has a sandy shoreline mixed with coral from the reef—water shoes are advised. Playa Caribe is known for attentive service and its prime location. Daily housekeeping service is provided. Parking, beach towels, and purified water are provided.

KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry.

We loved Playa Caribe 9. The condo itself was beautiful. Super comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. Fantastic views and breezes. Location was walkable to everywhere. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is very well maintained. The sargassum was horrible when we were there. So no ocean walks or swims but we took the gamble. We still had a wonderful vacation in Akumal.

Spectacular, soothing view of the ocean. The condo was clean, cheerfully decorated and well-supplied. Beds were comfortable. Beach towels provided. Showers were hot, A/C worked well. Location was ideal for exploring the area. Parking was a breeze. The whole area felt very safe. Potable water was provided and plentiful. My spouse and 3 kids (17,19,21) loved the rental and the location.

Excellent escape on the beach!

The space is very accommodating to family with a generous living room, dining room, kitchen, outdoor terraces, two bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen is well appointed with all the things you need. Beds are very comfortable! The decor is charming. Some condos in other nearby buildings feel very sterile, but this is truly residential and captures the spirit of Akumal. The staff is excellent. The concierge helped tremendously with recommendations, pre-planning and booking. There is always someone accessible on site or by phone/text for any needs. The level of communication and responsiveness is excellent. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked like people really enjoyed it. Access to the beach is great! This entire area has rocky areas, so bring water shoes to enjoy going in and out of the water. We rented paddle boards and loved taking them out in the bay. They also have plenty of towels for both the beach, so no need to take bath towels outside! There are several great restaurants nearby, a convenient small market shop across the street, close to the cenote/lagoon at the end of the road, lots of shops, cafes and restaurants in the main part of Akumal a walk or golf cart ride away. It feels like the people here really care. It’s great! We would love to come back!

The unit itself is very nice and clean. As opposed to other VRBO's we have been to in Mexico everything here worked. The a/c, all the locks, the safe, the wifi, all the light switches and lights, everything. Nice view, nice art work etc. Felt like what I would want my own place to look like. If you plan to do a lot of your own cooking make sure you stop at the Chedurai in Puerto Aventura as the prices for the limited food available in both the pueblo and Akumal proper are very high. Lots of decent pots and pans to cook with. Not garage sale stuff. Welcome basket was a nice addition and the big water jug was appreciated.

Playa Caribe Condo #9

Wow wow wow!! Our expectations were blown away. This condo was exceptional. Perfect for our family. Best beach location in Half Moon Bay with phenomenal snorkeling (nerf shark, sting rays, fish, lobster, moray eel) directly in front of the condo. Beachside pool was super refreshing, our kids loved swimming in it everyday. Seaweed did wash in for one day during our stay but was very tolerable and did not alter our beach activities in any way. Augustine (property manager) was very nice and helpful. Housekeeping staff was prompt and did a great job tiding up the condo if you desired. The town of Akumal was a perfect location for a family vacation, quiet, peaceful, relaxing, beautiful, and away from partying or overcrowding. Great restaurants within walking distance. Thanks again for a wonderful stay. We hope to come back next year!!!

Pros: The property was by far the best one on the block. Everyone was very helpful when needed. Room had everything a home would so that was an absolute plus. Service was an everyday thing so no need to do anything, just wake up and start your day! We had condo #9 and it had the most amazing view from both infinity pool and ocean. Cons: The beach infront of the condominium was not good to swim, so much seaweed and it smelled. But less then mins we had others where you could walk to and enjoy! So it was no big deal for us, we know its just nature and its nothing they can control. Very rocky so must have WATER SHOES. But very beautiful ocean.

Amazing stay!

Despite the crisis of Covid19, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in quiet paradise at Playa Caribe #9. The condo is spacious and the decor is amazing. Communication from the owner, Shari, was fantastic. We did several of her suggestions, including the Santa Cruz cenote, which was truly memorable. We snorkelled right out front of the condo several times and saw lots of fish, 2 sea turtles, a sting ray. As a result of closing borders, we needed to end our stay one day early. Shari was understanding and generous in this regard. We highly recommend this condo and owner! We would not hesitate to stay again!

Playa Caribe #9 Rocks

Fabulous home-like condo on the 3rd Floor overlooking the beautiful Half Moon Bay. I highly recommend this property if you are looking for a laid back environment in an upscale property. Good local restaurants, beautiful beaches, extremely safe and a multitude of outdoor activities. We’ve been coming to Akumal for 25 years and loved staying at Playa Caribe. Akumal has definitely grown in size over the years but still has a boutique and personal feel. I highly recommend this property!

Amazing stay in a beautiful condo!

Our stay at Playa Caribe #9 was absolutely perfect. The condo is beautifully decorated and has absolutely everything you could possibly need. Upon entering we were blown away by the gorgeous view from the huge patio door in the living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with more dishes, pots and pans, glasses, and utensils than I even have at home! We cooked many meals in the condo and had everything we needed. The bedrooms are spacious and again, beautifully decorated with art work (some originals from the owner) and many personal touches. There is plenty of closet space and dressers to unpack your things and move right in! The beds are super comfortable and the bathrooms were fully stocked with large showers and plentiful hot water. Everywhere you look in this condo you see that this is not just a condo...but a beautiful home that someone is willing to share with you. The beach is a little rocky and during our stay it was quite windy so it was a bit difficult to enter the ocean but we walked up and down the beach and visited “La Buena Vida” several times for delicious meals and margaritas. We were able to walk everywhere, to Akumal Beach (swam with turtles), to the shops and to Turtle Bay Cafe (wonderful breakfast) and La Cueva del Pescador (lobster dinner). The area is very safe with many friendly people. We also toured Santa Cruz Cenote (a “must see”) and snorkeled at Yal Ku Lagoon which was an amazing experience. We used the pool several times to cool off. So clean and refreshing! Our trip to this condo was terrific but more importantly was the communication with the owner. From the moment I booked the reservation, Shari was in contact with me to give us advice on transportation, excursions, recommendations for restaurants and she answered any questions. I really can’t say enough about her helpfulness and the touches she has put into this condo. I have been to Mexico many time and I highly recommend this condo due to the cleanliness (housekeeping came every day), the beauty, the comfort, and the location. Lovely Condo

Some basics: A just soft enough but firm bed, great showers, nice amount of living space, museum-quality décor, fully equipped kitchen, and a balcony set-up we didn't want to leave. This is one of the nicest condos we've rented over multiple trips to Qintana Roo, thanks to the delightful Mexican art throughout. A fine, color-sensitive decorating hand has coordinated everything including the dinner-and glass-ware. Our ONLY suggestion would be for higher watt bulbs in the living room lamps; evening reading was difficult. Even though we were there in early February both the pool and Half-Moon Bay were warm enough to swim in, unusual for this part of Mexico in our experience. Snorkeling was unexciting in the mid-part of the bay, but interesting to the south where a large area of fan and stick-like corals moved with the current like ballerinas. Water there was glass-clear and looked to be about 5-8 feet deep, with intermittent areas of sand where snorkelers could stand after making sure the area was clear of coral, rays, or anything else that could be damaged. Did see a huge ray just lifting out of clear sand very close to shore -- first clue was its long tail waving just to my left. Other than that, we were surprised how few fish we saw; others reported a drop in fish numbers at the commercial snorkeling at the north end of the bay (sorry, can't remember its name). All in all, we loved this place and give it high marks.

We had a beautiful stay in Shari's place. From my experience, this bay in Akumal has to be the best location for snorkelling on the entire Maya strip and after this visit, I don't think I could bear to stay anywhere else! As for the apartment itself...Not only is the view spectacular but the place is fully equipped with everything one could need and more. Everything from the cozy design, comfortable bed and open shared spaces made it really feel like home. On top of it, the staff were always very friendly and helpful. We keep looking back fondly at our photos and are already itching for the next visit!

Super relaxing experience

Spent a week at Playa Caribe #9 as a family of four (kids 8 and 11) and enjoyed everything about the experience. The condo is well equipped and extremely comfortable with a spectacular view of Half Moon Bay. The staff and management of the building are super helpful answering questions and pointing new visitors in the right direction. Being able to drink the water in the condo was a huge bonus for us as well. We used Akumal as a home base to explore beaches, cenotes, ruins, Playa Del Carmen and Tulum. The location in Akumal was perfect for visiting all of these sites. If you are looking for a safe, clean and comfortable condo in the Akumal area I highly recommend Playa Caribe #9. We plan on staying there again on a future visit.

perfect natural beach vacation condo - Playa Caribe #9

Playa Caribe #9 was beautiful with its fantastic ocean view, beautiful eclectic decor, and complete kitchen (it looks just like the photos) - we have been visiting Akumal for >20 years and this is the prettiest condo we have ever seen there. There was no sargassum and the water was calm and flat. We watched 88 baby turtles hatch and run into the ocean one night just outside the condo! Although we bought some groceries from the tiny store across the street, we ate out for most of our meals except breakfast at the great local restaurants - we love Turtle Bay Cafe since they have healthy food that every one of my picky children loves. We did all the activities in Shari’s (the owner’s) Guide she sent us before we left and they were exciting - especially the denote she recommended that was natural and private -- and much nicer than Xplor. Patty the maid was wonderful and kept it so clean. We hope to come back soon.

Très beau sejour

Condo très propre et superbe vue sur l’ocean. La plage dans la baie half moon est décevante mais on peu rejoindre la très belle plage publique en 15 minutes de marche. De plus, très beau sorkeling à faire dans la lagune à proximité. Excellent restaurant à bon prix, en bordure de mer, à 5 min de marche. Enfin, dans ce secteur, pas facile de trouver produits frais à manger dans les épiceries locales. Il est préférable de s’approvisionner à Playa Del Carmen ou Tulum. Et attention aux aliments crus !!! Trois membres de notre groupe sur quatr ont été malades !

The property is truly a find! It was so perfect for our getaway!!

We had a few extra days and didnt want to rent the timeshare for a whole week so i found this property in Akumal for 3 nights- what a find!! From the time we arrived we were taken care of with the people who worked there- from carrying our bags up 3 flights of stairs to the fruit and coffee that was left for our enjoyment! The sunrises are spectacular the beds are wonderful the condo is perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly need! We even rented a golf cart for exploring and found the best place to eat and enjoy margaritas! We obviously didnt want to leave because we left several items behind that the owner is now shipping to us! We are already looking at when we can return!!
