THE SPACE:

Living here means immersing yourself in Milan’s history while enjoying a peaceful and charming retreat overlooking one of the city’s most fascinating corners.

The apartment is located in an historic 18th-century residence, the Cantun Frecc, a building situated in the Gorla neighborhood along the Naviglio Martesana canal. The name, which in the Milanese dialect means “cold corner,” stems from the fact that the sun almost never shone on this spot; for this reason, the building was often used for aging cheese. The historic Milanese delicatessen Peck, founded in 1883 in Milan by Francesco Peck, a Bohemian charcuterie specialist from Prague, used this building to age its cheeses. This stretch of the canal is now one of the most photographed sections of the Naviglio Martesana and the Gorla-Precotto neighborhood itself.

As soon as you step through the door, you’ll be greeted by an ancient courtyard and a small, romantic, and elegant apartment. Inside the apartment, just to the left as you enter, is the bathroom, fully equipped with all necessary fixtures. Continuing into the living room, you’ll find the fully equipped kitchen with all the necessary appliances: sink, gas stove, oven, refrigerator with freezer, coffee maker, and washing machine. The living room features a dining area, a sleeper chair, a television, and a staircase leading up to the loft, which serves as the sleeping area. A cozy double bed will ensure you get a good night’s rest after a day of hard work, shopping, or visiting museums.

GUEST ACCESS:

Guests will have the entire two-room apartment at their disposal, located on the 1st floor (no elevator) in a historic 18th-century residence.



- BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL:

This property requires that you complete ONLINE REGISTRATION (online check-in).

Once your reservation is confirmed, you will receive an email containing a link to complete the process by entering the information for all guests.

The primary guest must provide a photo of their ID and a selfie with the ID clearly visible.

You will be asked to sign the Tourist Rental Agreement and, if applicable, pay the tourist tax.

Online check-in must be completed at least 3 days prior to arrival, except for last-minute reservations.

The personal data of our guests will be transmitted to the Police Headquarters as required by Lombardy Regional Law No. 27 of October 1,2015 of the Lombardy Region and processed exclusively for purposes related to the service and in compliance with privacy regulations.

- ACCESS TO THE PROPERTY:

This property is equipped with self-check-in via the Vikey system: both the street gate and the front door open digitally.

You will need a fully charged cell phone with an active data connection.

Access instructions, including an explanatory video, will be sent after you complete the online registration process.

Please note that check-in hours are from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with telephone assistance from staff available until 9:00 PM.

- CHECK-OUT:

Check-out must be completed by 10:00 a.m.

- CLEANING:

A cleaning service or linen change is not included during your stay. For all reservations longer than 15 days, an additional mid-stay cleaning fee is required, to be paid directly to Case Ospitali.

- SMOKE-FREE PROPERTY:

Smoking is prohibited inside the property, both in common areas and in the room. A penalty will be charged in case of violation.

- WELCOME KIT:

We provide our guests with a welcome kit containing laundry detergent, soap, body wash, and shampoo for your first day of your stay.



NEIGHBORHOOD DESCRIPTION:

In the 19th century, the Gorla neighborhood was nicknamed “Little Paris” because of the long, tree-lined avenues that ran alongside the Naviglio canal and were reminiscent of the picturesque Bois de Boulogne Park.

This was because, starting in the 19th century, noble mansions were built with adjoining parks, gardens, vegetable gardens, farmland, mulberry groves, and residential plots. The villas of Gorla were, in fact, famous for their tree-lined banks, which provided shade and offered majestic, picturesque views, such as those of Cantun Frecc, home to Acqua&Cielo.

Adjacent to Acqua&Cielo is Villa Finzi Park, a charming city park next to an historic villa featuring a playground, open spaces, and leafy trees.

The Martesana Canal and Bike Path

Begun by Francesco Sforza and completed in 1471, the Martesana Canal was a massive hydraulic engineering project of its time. Used to transport goods and people, it featured a road on both banks where horses pulled barges along this important waterway connecting the surrounding towns to Milan, the great city. Today, the canal’s use as a transportation route has fallen into disuse following the widespread adoption of road transport, and the canal bed has been transformed into a beautiful bike path. It is along this route that the Martesana bike path is described, 36 kilometers on a dedicated, protected path with almost no motor vehicle traffic.



GETTING AROUND THE AREA:

You can take the Red Line (M1) and get off at Gorla; after just 5 stops you’ll be at Piazzale Loreto, where you can take the M2 subway line to the train stations, or stay on the M1—in 9 stops from Gorla—to reach Piazza Duomo.

To get to Linate Airport, take the M1 and transfer at San Babila to the M4 line, which takes you to Linate in 12 minutes.
