Welcome to The Bird House! Nested in an up & coming neighborhood, we are closely located to Old Fort Concho, The Riverstage & amazing local restaurants & breweries. And what's a downtown experience without the shopping & a view? You will have to check out all of the locally owned businesses & The Concho River Walk. We welcome traveling nurses & families as you can see the hospital from the back yard. Thank you for choosing us as your "home away from home" & we hope you enjoy your stay!

House was exactly as described! The home had everything we needed. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely book again! Communication, check in, check out all perfect with no issues. previous reviews mentioned questionable neighborhood. Looks a little run down but not an issue at all and never really saw anyone. Perfect stay!

The house is very clean. The rooms are comfortable. I like that there isn’t a lot of clutter on the walls or on the surfaces; you’re able to set out your own things. While it was very close to all the downtown shopping it is in a neighborhood with some run down and empty homes. It’s nice that the property has good locking windows, good locks on the doors, a privacy fence around the entire perimeter and very well lit at night. This is important as we were two women traveling alone. We would stay here again.

Honestly, when you leave for vacation, you expect some sort of rest. Unfortunately, the ad doesn’t state it’s literally a bird house. Birds in/or on the roof making noise, raccoons or cats inside the roof making noise all night above the bedrooms. While the house is clean and everything you need is well thought of, sadly nowhere does it mention the bad neighborhood. Run down homes, questionable people about. If you’re alone or a few girls with you, it’ll be scary. My friend and I tried to rest here but every night we were frightened by what sounded like footsteps inside the house, then realizing animals bigger than birds are inside the roof or attic. We hardly slept. Two rooms are warm, the one in the middle is cooler. Thankfully the shower is hot though. We drove home exhausted only to return back to being worse off then when we arrived. We thought we’d be able to return rested. I notified the owners. They only apologized and after asking VRBO for the rights of travelers, they initiated a conversation to ask the owners for a refund of some sort. The owners denied it. It would be no different if there was a water issue or plumbing. You have some reasonable expectation to rest but not here. VRBO said the owners said that it’s just birds on the roof when my screenshot clearly said raccoons or cats INSIDE the roof. I say all this because should you choose to stay here and you can’t sleep or you’re uncomfortable with your safety, the owners won’t help you.

The Bird House was the perfect fit for us. Bedrooms were good size to fit everyone and backyard had the perfect hangout spot. Very spacious house and backyard. Easy check in/out and host was very responsive with any questions that we had.

As Advertised

Property was adorable, clean and exactly what was advertised. Great location to downtown but the neighborhood itself was run down. We were a little nervous at first but once we were settled all nerves went away. Great communication with the owner. Would definitely stay here again.
