Overall, the condo was great. It was clean, comfortable, in good repair, and had a surprisingly well-furnished kitchen.
The problem was with physical security. The front door uses an electronic deadbolt that cannot be locked when the battery dies. When the battery is dead, the physical key only allows the door to be unlocked -- anyone on the outside can unlock the deadbolt.
When the battery died on our second night, I sent Vacasa a text message through the app. I didn't even get an automated response after half an hour, so I called the support number. They told me that they would send someone from the local team, but didn't know how long it would take. I waited another hour, didn't hear from anyone, so I bought a battery at a nearby store and replaced it myself. The condo is in a nice neighborhood, but I still didn't feel comfortable going to sleep with anyone being able to wander in.
I sent a follow-up message to Vacasa and told them that I replaced the battery. I didn't hear back from anyone. No apology, no inquiry to see if we needed more help, nothing.
It's shocking that Vacasa was so indifferent to a fundamental safety issue.
