Good location & breakfast but overpriced

The hotel overall is pretty ok, but there are some bad aspects. The room was not the cleanest ones although the sheets were pretty clean. There are bits and pieces missing, like the kettle doesn't fit the base, there plastic cover on the flushbutton in the toilet is missing, the windows are not very soundproof, the door handle is wobbly, the hairdryer was not working (hotel offerd a separate spare one). The beds are also pretty narrow and the matters itself is wobbly and you can feel the springs a little bit. The good things were the breakfast (although when something was missing we had to notice and ask for it to be added, the staff didn't do it as they were only present in the room for collecting the plates. The location is good, very close to Shadwell DLR with easy access to the city center. The wifi was good too. Personally I think the hotel is overpriced considering it's quality. You can easily find either same or cheaper price options within the city center that are far better.

Close to DLR budget hotel

Close to the DLR. Hotel needs some TLC and upgrades. Staff was great. So the question i always ask myself: would i go back? No, its not central or modern enough for my liking. If you are on a budget this is a good pick.

I stayed at the Dockside Hotel for 3 nights in January, 2020 and found it to be an ok hotel for what you're paying but there are a few things you need to know. First off, entry to the hotel is done through pressing a buzzer by the entrance. This has to be done every time you enter the hotel and is quite inconvenient. It would be much better with a key fob or key code system rather than waiting for someone to push a button to allow you entry. Next, my room happened to be on the top of three floors so be prepared to climb those stairs as there is no lift. The room itself was ok but was sweltering hot when I entered as the radiator was blasting out heat and the fan/ac/heater unit was doing the same. I turned down the temp on the unit to try to cool down the room and it did start to pump out cooler air but was also working so hard at doing that so it was also pushing more hot air into the room from the motor. I turned it off completely, opened the window and turned off the radiator. By the time I returned to the room in the evening, it was perfectly fine. The shower compartment is tiny! For many, getting inside and then being able to shower is going to be a chore and there is no shower shelf! This is in reference to the shower in my room and I can't say what the showers in other rooms are like. The hotel provided two tiny soap bars and two tiny shampoo/conditioner packets. It would be much better with shower gel and/or soap and shampoo bottles! Not my favourite hotel!

Budgetboende öster om men nära centrum

Ett lugnt boende nära järnvägsstationen. En hållplats med DLR från Tower gate eller Bank. Greenwich nås direkt via samma linje. Boendet har säkert sett sina bättre dagar och liknar till utseendet många andra boenden man kan se runt om i London, såsom Bayswater exempelvis. Enkelt, budget men rent och fungerande. Bra sängar, rent badrum som är tillräckligt rymligt. Bord med en stol och två små nattduksbord samt inbyggd garderob. Heltäckningsmatta är däremot något som drar ner betyget även om det verkar vara standard i engelska boenden. Badrumsgolvet är i alla fall kaklat. Lugnt läge och kort promenadavstånd till tåg och inköpsservice. Trång brant trappa till övervåning om man inte får rum på entreplanet. Trång trappa ner ett våningsplan till frukostrummet. Mycket bra frukost med äggröra, korv, flingor, mjölk, rostat bröd, Ostar, korv frukt och sötsaker mm. Trevlig servicepersonal om än inte kunnig i turistrelaterade ärenden. Vi tyckte läget var bra och priset i förhållande till vad som bjöds var utmärkt. Vi skulle tänka oss komma tillbaka om vi besöker London igen.

Kass bokning av taxi

Vid bokning av taxi kunde hotellet inte boka en taxi som tog kort (har företagskort som jag ville betala med), vilket är mycket märkligt. Mannen i receptionen var inte villig att ändra sig eller hjälpa till. När taxi väl kom, 15 min försenad, fick jag själv guida honom till destinationen för att taxichauffören inte visste vägen...

When we arrived and given the key to our room we were shocked at the smell of the room. One curtain at a window on the street broken blinds.Fridge not on and was very smelly.Tv wasnt working. Kettle was dirty and mould in the bathroom. Floor dirty. We asked for another room which we were given. Better than the other but wardrobe coming away from the wall one curtain hiding broken blinds. Tiles broken in the bathroom. Mould all over the ceiling and round the windows dirty shower. But it was late and the bedding seemed clean until the following night when we found beetles in the bed. I didnt want to think about the fact there were bed bugs. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Didnt feel safe walking to the station as it was dark and young people taking drugs.

When I checked in the staff was polite. The night staff member however was very rude. The room had cracks in the paint, holes in the walls, generally a unkept and and poor standard throughout. It has a dingy and dirty feeling throughout. A chemical like smell lingers around the place. Nothing more than a private room hostel.

In a part of London that didnt ooze safety around. Appreciate its London but wish we had paid the extra £20 for a more reputable hotel. The 2 single beds were not comfortable. Didnt get any comfort from the hotel so left without even trying the breakfast.

Good thing is the location is good. Close to tube . 2 min walk. Front disk staff terrible! No customer service at all! They dont even look at u when they talk ! No greeting or welcoming at all ! Zero star! Bed is not comfy and missing the daily housekeeping service even u tell them to do so! staff u can tell that they dont wanna be there! I do not recommend this hotel! Other plenty choices in the area !

We had planned a stay for 2 nights at the property. Upon checking in to our room, there was an extremely unpleasant smell - my friend described it as "smelling like death". We also saw a google review for bed bugs 2 days prior and decided we didn't want to risk it and left to stay elsewhere. Photos appear way nicer than the actual rooms. Would not recommend staying here until they clean up their rooms.

Dockside is a decent property with friendly employees. If you are looking for a place to stay that is within a stone's throw of the underground station, Shadwell is within a 2 minute walk. The neighborhood is decent and seems to be full of families and lots of working people. We were not concerned to be walking to and from the hotel in the mornings and evenings, but would wander late at night. It was noisy later in the evenings, we often heard cars racing up and down the street and sirens most nights. The room was plain, the bed was not the most comfortable, but it was clean and a place to crash. The bathroom was utilitarian, hot water was plentiful and the show was powerful. There is evidence of mildew on the ceiling of the bathroom and likely old water damage, but other than that it's clean. When we asked that the linens be refreshed and the room cleaned, everything was left spic and span. Breakfast was tasty and kept refreshed, with a selection of eggs, sausage, beans, cheeses, toast, pastries, meats, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, coffee, tea, and juice. Nothing fancy, but you can get filled up. Yes, it was the same each day, but it was fresh and filling. Overall, Dockside Hotel is nothing fancy, you need to pay more for fancy and updated. It's a place to sleep and shower and is right near the Tube.

The guy at reception was too rude. The room was bad. The area.is not nice. Breakfast was not good. The stairs were too noisy. And the guy ( from india, i guess) , asked me not walk to see my my friend in other level. If they are not happy to recieve turists, they shoud close the hotel.

The smell of sewer was constant and sometimes overwhelming. The staff sprayed the bathroom with air freshener which helped for all of about 15 minutes. Windows were opened and the fan was always on, yet, the foul smell persisted. Will NOT consider staying at this hotel ever again!

What a lovely hotel with such welcoming and friendly staff! Excellent location being so close to the DLR and overground. Very quiet and well sound proofed inside. Had a great night’s sleep. The room had lovely interiors and thought out decor - bed comfy, nice pillows and a powerful shower. Breakfast was a nice addition and the filter coffee was sublime! Only area can think of improvement would be an additional towel in the room and some more vegan options at breakfast, although there was enough for me to enjoy! Thank you Dockside

The hotel is very close to the train station making it easy to get into central London. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in need of decoration but this is purely cosmetic and did not dampen our stay.

Reception was friendly, lady serving breakfast was really helpful and friendly too. Breakfast was nice with option of beans, egg and sausage available as part of the buffet style breakfast. The location was really good. I had a friend staying in a more expensive hotel near St Paul's Cathedral but needed somewhere cheaper. Shadwell station was just around the corner, I got on there and off at Bank tube station (tube took 3:minutes) and then had a brisk 10 minute walk to St Paul's Cathedral. For under £100 you will struggle to find better within such a short distance of central London. I loved it there and intend to return.

Given the price, the location was close to the areas I needed to be. If you are paying for a budget room, the condition will be passable at best. If I could not find any other hotels in this area I would stay again, but I will look elsewhere first.

A place to book when everywhere else is full or ridiculously expensive. Functional low end hotel. Room was clean, water was hot, staff were helpful, breakfast was adequate. Pretty basic, small rooms. Not much going on in neighborhood.
