I made a booking for 2 with Expedia to stay in NYC. The booking’s name was “5 beds modern apt near Times Square”. After I made the booking I paid fully for it and asked in the chat if the apartment was private or shared. The host, Christina responded and assured me it was private, followed by a message from her asking for the name of the guests who are staying to be able let the building know. Before I took my flight I let the host know my estimated arrival time and had no response from her. Once in NYC, I went to the address posted, turns out the address does not exist. I started to call from my and my daughter’s cellphone and had no response. I also texted the chat with no response. After hours of searching, trying to contact and desperately calling. I had to go search for another place to stay. Yesterday night I got a strange message from the host saying “if there is any issue finding the place, they would send someone to help” to what I instantly responded letting her know that the address doesn’t exist and that she had not responded before to find the place. I need a reimbursement of the complete payment I made to them for my stay from September 21st to September 24th.

Unfortunately the host did not communicate well. We arrived at the address on the listing. It did not exist. We reached out to the manager. They told us “Oh, we didn’t know what time you were coming. The address where you are is just to pick up the key but since it is almost 5:00 and we will be closed you will have to go to a different address. At that address, there is a lockbox with a key in it. You will then be able to access the unit.” After walking four blocks, there was no key in the lockbox. We contacted the manager again. He tells us he will have to call us back. When he calls back he states “A pipe above the shower burst. The plumber is still working on it.” When asked why they didn’t notify us sooner, he stated, “We were hoping to get it fixed before you got here but there is no water so we can rent it to you. We have other locations though.” All of the other locations were far from where we were hoping to stay which was in the heart of the city…close to Times Square. We then had to scramble to find somewhere else and walk even more through New York with suitcases. It was very unprofessional and I would not recommend booking with them. The only plus was a quick refund. I was really concerned about that.
