The commune is part of the canton of Levens, the origin of its name comes from the eponymous saint and it has 1019 inhabitants who are called Saint-Blaisois. Its coat of arms represents the bishop's crosier which refers to the abbey of Saint-Pons to which Saint-Blaise belonged; the two candles are the symbols of the saint.
